The Trend Report : Linen Styles

Linen is one of the biggest trends this season. In the past, I only thought of  linen as the clothing my Grandma wears on Sundays to Church. Remember those linen skirt suits that always got rumpled after sitting down? Remember those days? Haha, I feel so old. Continue reading….

Linen this season is very elevated and fresh. It’s not just about those skirt suits that your grandma used to wear. Now, there are linen vests, dresses and cute linen pants.

Linen is great for the summer. I love that linen is light and airy, it almost feels like you’re not wearing anything, which is something I live for. I just like to feel comfortable Ok?

AfterlightImage

I saw this dress in Winners a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t go into the store to buy clothes, I just wanted a beach towel, but then I saw this dress. I fell in love with it. When I looked at the rack, I only saw size small, so in my head I kept muttering, “God, please let my size be there” over and over. Look, I really wanted the dress OK? It was just so beautiful. There was only one on the rack, but I kept searching. I then said to myself, “Look on the other side”. Then I saw more sizes and I was so happy. I went to the changing room and I prayed that it would fit my upper chest, because I have huge boobs and it’s really hard to find cute stuff. that fit that part of my body. When I went into the changing room and  tried it on and saw that it fit I was so happy.

AfterlightImage

I like that this dress is a great example of how to wear modern linen. This dress can be worn with some nice heels and simple makeup. It didn’t crush that much. I really love this dress.

Linen isn’t just in neutral colours in 2018. There are bright coloured linen clothes and also dark colours as well like grey and black. I think linen is here to stay. What do you think?

What new trends are you trying this year? Have you ever worn linen before?

Review : Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme

I don’t really like to stray too much outside of the products that I use for my face, but today I decided to try Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme. When I purchased my Nars concealer, I chose to get the Kat Von D concealer as a sample  just to see what it’s like. My friend always talks about how great  Kat Von D Products are, so I said, why not?

fullsizeoutput_17d2

I applied a little primer and foundation first. I chose the shade Medium 19 Cool because it looked more like my shade. Then I used my damp beauty blender to apply.

fullsizeoutput_17d4

I was pleasantly surprised. It went on smoothly and I didn’t have to apply too much product. It din’t look caked on, it was really rich. I thought it concealed really well.IMG_7014.jpeg

IMG_7015

It made my under eyes look bright, which I really like, when wearing concealer. Itreally felt really hydrating, even though the formula was thick. It went on really smooth.

fullsizeoutput_17d0

The only downside to this? A couple of hours later I started to see lines. Overall, I’d give this concealer a 4/5. I liked the formula and the shade but the only thing I’m worried about is that it will crease after a while.

On the Sephora’s website, the bottle looks like normal sized concealers. Would I buy this again? Maybe. I didn’t really think this concealer was more special or completely different than any other one, but it’s still good. You can shop it Here

I’m still sticking to my Nars Concealer though for now.

Note : These words and pictures are all mine

What concealers do you use? Have you ever tried this concealer before? Please leave a comment.

OOTD : Summer Essentials

Today’s Outfit, is one of my favourites ever, and I don’t really have favourites when it comes to outfits. I’m the type of person who likes to change things up frequently, so you’ll never really see me looking the same. This look brought me to think about my Summer Essentials, the items of clothing I can’t live without during the summer time. Keep reading……

AfterlightImage

These are my Essentials for the Summer …….

Platform Sandals – I bought these at the beginning of the summer and I must say that I really love them. I saw them in the Forever 21 and I immediately thought, “I have to get these”. They were just very different from the usual sandals and and liked that they had platforms. They are super comfortable as well. I wear these every time I go out. You can shop similar ones Here as it is sold out.

AfterlightImage

Off the Shoulder Tops – I was one of those people who were skeptical about off the shoulder tops when they first came out, because I have bigger boobs, but after I tried one, I was hooked. Now, I have different variations and colours. I don’t think I can go one summer day without an off the shoulder top. This top is also from Forever 21, you can find different variations Here

AfterlightImage

Light Washed Denim – I just really like light washed denim for the summer. First of all, it’s soft, and it’s just beautiful for those hot summer days. I don’t wear jeans pants in the summertime, because it’s so hot and I mean who wants jeans or leggings sticking on to their skin? Certainly not me, so I find alternatives like dresses and light washed denim overall shorts. I like when my legs get fresh air, you know what I’m saying? I love this one from Forever 21. I felt as if I could wear this to a carnival or a barbecue. You can shop it Here

AfterlightImage

Other outfit essentials that aren’t pictured – Sunglasses, Small cute colourful handbags.

This outfit wasn’t inspired by anyone really, but it’s not original, I’m sure someone has done this look before.I just wanted to wear something different because I’ve noticed myself  only wearing dresses. This outfit felt more hippie than my usual ones. but I loved the change. I received a lot of compliments in this look.

Hope you all have a great week! XOXO

Random Thoughts : How does Social Media Really Make you feel?

fullsizeoutput_157eDo you spend a lot of time on social media or none at all? Do you spend hours scrolling through Facebook checking out what Sandy is doing? How does it make you feel? Do you feel happy, do you feel sad? Does it make you feel anxious or calm? I’ve had my issues with social media in the past, and it stinks. Keep reading to find out more about my history with social media. Story Time!

I first signed up for Facebook, maybe in 2009, I wasn’t one of those people who was into social media, it was as if it didn’t exist to me. I preferred face to face contact, but my friends roped me into getting it, so I eventually caved and signed up. Bro, I became so addicted. It was like Facebook became my life. It was annoying actually, even when there was nothing on it, I’d be online. Don’t get me started on Instagram. Whew Chile!

I started to see the negative effects that social media had on my psyche in 2015. I would be on Facebook seeing people going on vacations, living their best life, or what appeared to be their best life, and I would start to feel so depressed. I started to feel less than. I felt like I had nothing going on in my life. Sometimes I would hide people’s posts so I wouldn’t have to see what they were doing. It was a really tough time for me.

Eventually, decided to deactivate my Facebook for a whole year. I chose Facebook because this was where everyone would be posting the most back then. I didn’t deactivate Instagram but I began to post less. That year, was very therapeutic for me. I learned to focus on my own life and find joy in that. There was so much that I missed out on, simply because I was so focused on Facebook.

During that year I learned  enjoy moments more and be present. It was so refreshing! That’s when I think I developed my love for photography.

After the year, I felt better about social media, so I decided to reactive my Facebook account and I started posting on Instagram again. I had a better relationship with social media. I didn’t let other people’s posts affect how I felt about myself. I felt great.I feel great even now. Now I can log into any social media platforms and feel fine.

The lesson in all this? Don’t compare your life to others. You don’t know their backstory, you don’t know how they got there. Comparison only makes you feel sick. Everyone is on a different journey. Some people have to work extremely hard, some people have parents who help them out, some people are rich, some people have sugar daddies. Haha.Or, some people just pretend to have it all together. Your journey is your own, focus on your own path and build on that.

Also,it’s good to unplug sometimes. I’m not saying to do a year like I did. Unplug for a couple hours, or a day. Go out in nature. Enjoy life. Be present. Something that I try to do when I go out with friends is, to be off my phone. I only really go on, if I’m taking pictures for my blog or making funny videos with my best friend.

I mostly use social media these days as a learning tool and to promote my blog. I don’t feel sad  or compare myself to people on social media anymore. Whenever I see a picture of them going on vacations doing things I just say, “Oh nice” and keep it moving. I just don’t have the time for that. You know what I’m saying? A girl’s got an empire to build.

Life is a journey, enjoy the ride. Don’t spend your life comparing yourself to others when you should be living it. You only live once. XOXO

What did you think of this post? Did you enjoy it? What’s your relationship with social media? Is it good? Is it bad?. Leave your comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

My Makeup Routine IN 10 Steps

fullsizeoutput_1717

Look, I wish I was the type of person to say things like, “I do my makeup differently everyday”, but I’m not. I’d like to be the person who says “I’m going to do this new bold look  with my eyes today”, but I’m not. Haha, will I ever be that type of person? Maybe, but typically I do my makeup the same way every time.. Maybe it’s laziness, maybe it’s comfort I don’t know, but it’s always the same. Yeah, I know, boring right?

Today, I’ll be sharing with you my Makeup Routine. Typically it takes me probably 45 minutes to do my makeup. Here’s the process.

  1. Primer – Before putting on my makeup I always apply primer. My face is always dry after I cleanse it, so using a primer makes all the difference. For this I like to use Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer. I like that this is super light and creamy and it doesn’t make my face oily. It’s also really affordable compared to Smashbox’s primer.fullsizeoutput_16e9
  2. Foundation – After apply primer I use, Fenty Beauty Pro’ Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. I like this makeup because it looks like my skin. I don’t feel like I’m trying too hard, it looks really natural. I shake the bottle twice then use 3-4 pumps depending on the day. My shade is 420. I always dampen my beauty blender before I apply my foundation, I find that it just goes on smoother and looks better.fullsizeoutput_1715
  3. Concealer– I like using Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. This is just so creamy and it just makes my face look really radiant. It’s the best.fullsizeoutput_e64fullsizeoutput_16eeThen I blend, blend, blend.
  4. Contour– After concealing. I contour. This is my favourite part of makeup. I like how it brings definition to my face. I use Fenty Beauty Matchstix Matte Skin stick in shade Truffle or Espresso. I use a brush to blend out my contourAfterlightImagefullsizeoutput_1705
  5. Setting Powder – I then apply setting powder. I love the RCMA No Color Powder. It’s easy to blend out and it makes my makeup stay on for a long time. I usually dampen my beauty blender to apply this. I usually leave it on for 5 mins while I do my eyebrows or apply mascara.fullsizeoutput_170dfullsizeoutput_1708
  6. Eyebrows – After setting powder I do my eyebrows. I use Rimmel London’s Brow Shake Filling Powder. I really like this because it makes my eyebrows really dark and bold. I don’t like it any other way. How to use? Shake, then apply but make sure the contents of the bottle don’t end up blotching your face.fullsizeoutput_16ed
  7. Eyeshadow – I do my eyeshadow next. Typically I use the same colours. Again, I’m really boring. These days I use the Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Spice Edition. I like using the burgundy colours the most because they make me stand out.AfterlightImagefullsizeoutput_1741
  8. Mascara– I use 2 different mascaras, one on my top lashes and the other on my bottom lashes. I use Essence on my top eyelashes and Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara on my bottom lashes. fullsizeoutput_16eaAfterlightImage
  9. Setting Spray– This the second to last step. After I brush off the powder and apply mascara I use Mac Prep+ Prime Fix +Matte Vaporizer. When I first started using makeup I had no clue what this was but now I’m in love with it. It just makes my makeup look so good and photo ready.fullsizeoutput_1709
  10. Lipgloss – I used to hate wearing lipgloss but now I can’t stop wearing it. It’s so simple and easy. I don’t have to worry about lipstick being on your teeth or all over my mouth. I use Rimmel London’s Oh My Gloss Lipgloss. fullsizeoutput_1702

And this is the finished look belowfullsizeoutput_1594

fullsizeoutput_155f

These are all products that I LOVE. I use them regularly and I would recommend them to anyone. I won’t recommend products that are not great because there would be no point.

Yeah, so this is my makeup routine. Will I try new makeup looks in the future? Absolutely, because change is good, but for now I’ll keep doing this routine.

All the products shown in this blog post can be found on Sephora.com website or on Amazon.ca.

What’s your makeup routine? What kind of makeup products do you use? Do you always use the same products or do you switch it up?

I Decided To Dress Like Kim Kardashian For A Day

I love Kim Kardashian. Yeah, judge me, I don’t care. Whenever I watch the show, Kim always makes me laugh with her antics and I just love how she’s always there for her family. She kinda reminds me of myself in a way, and I love how driven she is. She’s actually my favourite out of all the Kardashians, aside from Kris Jenner and Kendall.

I’ve been watching Kim’s style throughout the years and yes, like everyone else, I really love some outfits, and then I really dislike others. This week I decided to dress like Kim Kardashian for a day. I’ve noticed Kim wearing , Biker Shorts and T- Shirts with sneakers a lot lately so I said, “Let me try this”. Mind you, I can’t afford Yeezy clothing or shoes, but I decided to work with what I had in my closet already.

This is how Kim usually looks in Biker shorts and T shirts

IMG_6786

fullsizeoutput_16c9.jpeg
Here she is dressing up her Biker shorts with heels and a Denim Jacket

And this is how I copied her look.

AfterlightImage

I wore this look to the mall and people looked at me strange. Their face said, “What the hell is she wearing?”, but did I care? Nah. I mean I dress for myself, not for people.

AfterlightImage

Kim sometimes dresses up this look with heels or a denim jacket but I wanted to go the more comfortable route with the sneakers.

AfterlightImage

My friend saw me in this outfit and she said that I looked like a homeless person. Yeah I know that’s what people say when they see Kim in this outfit going out too but honestly I didn’t let that stop me.

AfterlightImageAfterlightImage.jpg

In conclusion, I’ll be wearing more Biker Shorts and T shirts till summer ends, whether I’m going to the mall or out with my friends. I don’t care if I look like a homeless person, or, a hobo. The best thing about this outfit? It’s really really comfortable. You know what I’m saying? And I LOVE things that feel comfortable. It felt really simple, like I was just wearing jeans and T shirt. The material of the biker shorts felt really soft and the T shirt was large and just really comfortable. This is athleisure that I can actually see myself wearing everyday. Throw out sweatpants and give me these! I can see why Kim Kardashian loves wearing them so much, they’re the best!

Btw, Kim, can we be best friends  now? Can I be apart of your squad?Haha, if only.

My Cleansing Routine

I often talk about what foundation I’m wearing, or, some new cosmetic product that I’m trying out, but what about what I use when I’m not wearing makeup? What’s underneath it all? Do I use thousands of products or just water? Hmm….keep reading.

fullsizeoutput_1548

Before I apply my foundation I always cleanse my face first. I start by using the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleaner. fullsizeoutput_1547

I really like this cleanser. It smells so fresh and clean. It reminds me of fresh cut lemons. I have really bad acne so this helps to calm it down and it makes my face look so fresh and clean. On the back, it says “For oily skin, use 2-3 times per week and rinse off with warm water”. This cleanser is really strong, so I wouldn’t recommend anyone using it too much. You can shop it Here

Next I Exfoliate…..

For this I use St Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

I really love this scrub. Every time I know I’m going to be putting on makeup I use this.

fullsizeoutput_1547

Whenever I use this, my face looks so bright! It’s like I just visited the Dermatologist’s office! And I LOVE  it when my face looks bright. I feel like this just makes my makeup look 10 times better because it makes my face look like its glowing. I use this maybe 3-4 times per week. It’s not harsh on my skin and it smells really nice. You can shop it Here

So there you have it folks, this is how I cleanse my face before makeup. In 2 easy steps. There’s no fuss, there’s no hassle. It’s easy! I’ve been doing this for 2 years now so it’s tried and true.

Disclaimer : This is not a review post, I’m just sharing with you what I use to cleanse my face before makeup. These are all my thoughts, there are no affiliate links in this post.

What cleansers do you use? What new brands do you want to try? Do you use cleansers or just water?
