Review : Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation

Foundation is the one thing that I can’t live without. Put me on an island with other cosmetics and I’ll always choose foundation. A girl’s gotta cover up her spots, you know what I’m saying?

Today, I want to review the Becca  Skin Love Weightless Blur  Foundation. This is a breathable, medium coverage liquid foundation with a buildable finish that enhances the natural beauty of your skin, this is what the package states.

fullsizeoutput_208d

First Impressions

I decided to use the shade Maple because it seemed similar to the shade that I used with my regular foundation by Fenty Beauty.

LDqsMbVZTyCJSnE3H+W51Q

1.So first thing, I really liked that it covered my spots. I didn’t have to use a lot of foundation to cover up. I really liked this, because with so many other foundations you have to use so much to cover everything.

2. It went on smoothly, I didn’t really have to blend it out too much.

IMG_8734

After an Hour

After an hour, I checked back on my skin. I noticed that the foundation didn’t move. There was no oil dripping off my skin or anything.

The Downside

After the hour, I noticed that the foundation started flaking. It didn’t really look natural or feel breathable. It felt heavy on my skin.

The Verdict

I’m going to give this foundation a 3.5/5 stars. I liked the coverage the best and I liked that it went on smoothly. But after the hour it looked patchy and just ugly. It retails for $53 on Sephora.com. Would I spend that much money on this foundation? No, I don’t think it’s worth the price and the bottle looks really small for the price.

Yes, so this was my review of this foundation. What did you think of this post? Do you use this foundation? What did you think of it?

Sunday Riley C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum

I’m always on the hunt for products that brighten my face. I hate when my face looks dull and lifeless. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like looking like I just woke up, you know what I’m saying? I don’t like when people ask me, “Did you get enough sleep, are you ok”? I like looking Fresh! Recently, I discovered something that helps with that. Keep Reading.fullsizeoutput_1930

Again, I was purchasing something from Sephora and they were giving out samples so I saw this Sunday Riley C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum sample and I said, “I have to have this!”!. I’ve never heard of this product before but I decided to take a chance and try it out.

I liked that it was creamy but it didn’t make my skin oily. After the first day I noticed that it started working. My skin looked brighter and fresher. I fell in love with it.

fullsizeoutput_192e

It didn’t clear my spots or anything, but it made me look awake and fresh and  most importantly, it made my face look bright and that’s what I really wanted.

This serum is a little pricey. It retails for $110 on Sephora.com but I think it works better than all those other Vitamin C oils that claim to make your skin brighter.

fullsizeoutput_156a

Will I purchase this again? I probably will have to save up for it, but I think it’s a good product. It does what it says it will do. Most things that are often good are always expensive.  You can shop it Here

I’ll give this serum a 5/5 stars.

What serums do you use? Have you ever used this serum before? Comment below

The Beauty Products that I Own but don’t Use

ACS_0021-1

I often hear girls talking about the latest beauty products that they have, own, or they’re about to buy. I hear them saying, stuff like, “Omg, I have to get that new Tarte tape shape concealer”, or, “Omg I’m going to sephora to try that new Fenty Beauty highlighter because, girl, I gotta have it”. Can you relate? I certainly can. But, what about the beautyproducts that you don’t use? You know, the lipstick that your Aunt Geraldine bought you 2 years ago but it’s not even close to something that you would wear so it’s sitting on your dresser. Or, that ugly nude tarte lip paint that they give you when you ask for samples at Sephora, do you still keep that, or do you throw it away. Seems familiar?

Well, today I’m going to shine the light on some of the beauty products that I own, but don’t use.

  • Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray

acs_0023-1.jpeg

Look, I’ve tried to give this a chance. I really have. A friend of mine, told me it was good for oily skin, so I hurriedly went online to sephora.com to purchase it, but I was severely disappointed. I’ve tried putting on a little but I still end up draining oil, after 10 mins. I’ve tried putting it on before foundation but still the same results. I’m sorry all nighter setting spray but I wasted money on you. It’s still sitting on top of my dresser and I really don’t know what to do it. Maybe I’ll ask my friends to see if anyone of them want it

  • Tarte Tartiest Lip Paint ( Nude Color) ACS_0027

I received this, the first time I purchased makeup from Sephora for my birthday as a gift and that was like a year and a half ago and I still have it. You’re probably saying, “Oh but that’s so tiny, you should be done with that by now. But no honey, it’s not even my shade. I look horrid when I put it on. It’s still laying on my dresser. Anybody want a nude shade of lipstick? Call or text me.

  • NYX Wonder Stick Highlight and Contour Stick

ACS_0025-1

Look, I used to believe that these contour highlight sticks were the bomb. No one could tell me that they weren’t the bomb. If you can relate put your hands up! Then I discovered that they weren’t the bomb and it’s like my life shattered into pieces. Haha, I’m kidding, it’s not that serious. But every time I wear this it feels like i just poured a bottle of oil on my face. It doesn’t feel creamy to me at all. It just feels like oil and until I started used the fenty beauty contour, I didn’t realize. I really don’t know what to do with them, so I’m probably going to use them for one of my blog posts and then throw them out when they’re done.

  • Benefit Cosmetics 3D Brow Tones

ACS_0024-1.jpeg

I literally have no idea what this is for. I asked for samples at sephora and they gave this to me. The girl said, “We have this, it’s not your shade but you can use it”. Haha, I tried using it but I honestly didn’t know what to do. Do I put it on my eyebrow? Or under my eyebrow? In my eyebrow? See? I’m confused.

I need to find some ways to get rid of these things. Or, maybe I’ll sell them. I don’t know. I’m not going to keep them piling up on my dresser. I could be using that space for the new products I like, you know what i’m saying?.

I don’t want to become a hoarder. My philosophy is always this “Throw out things that you don’t need, or give them away”.

Do you have the same problem as I do? If so, what do you do with unwanted makeup? If you can relate comment below. Let me know what you think

MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Matte Spray

Setting sprays aren’t my thing. I usually just bake, brush off and go. I’ve tried setting sprays and I just end up being more oily. Oiliness is not my thing, you know what I’m saying?

ACS_0017.jpg

I went into the MAC store on Sunday  to try  out the spray because I had heard  a lot of great stories about it but I wanted to try it before buying it. I mean, who wants to waste $30?

ACS_0018

When I went into the store, I saw the bottle but I was going to try the one that makes your skin glow.  The sales rep then came up to me and asked if I need help. I told her that I have oily skin and then she told me that she too had oily skin and that she uses the Fix + matte. I told her that I wanted to try it first. Haha I had no idea what to do. I was just spraying. She was like “No hun, you have to hold it 20 cm away from your face”. I was laughing at myself.

After I sprayed it on my face I waited for about 5 mins. I didn’t really notice anything but my friend said to me “Wow, your face looks so good”, I said, “Hmm I don’t really see a difference” and she said “Raceen, you know me, I would never lie to you”. So I purchased it.

ACS_0019

On Mac’s website it’s described as “A lightweight mattifying spray that refreshes skin while instantly controlling shine and oil on the surface without disturbing makeup. The innovative formula contains powders, silica and other oil- absorbing agents to help set makeup, rebalance and mattify skin“.

I must say, I’m really liking this spray. You have to shake the bottle before using it. I’ve used it twice so far and it makes my skin matte for about 4 hours until I have to use it again.

Here’s what my skin looks like when I use it.IMG_5192

Review : Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick

Imagine for a second that lipsticks were never invented. There would be chaos. Girls would be walking around with their lips dry, there would be no color to brighten up your face. Horrid, right? Let’s not imagine that.

Lipsticks are probably my favourite part of makeup. If I don’t have on lipstick I feel really weird. I have really dark lips so wearing  lipstick makes me feel more confident.

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick.

fullsizeoutput_fde

I bought this lipstick sometime last year, and I must say, I really love it. The color that I purchased was Griselda. I chose this colour because I don’t like bright lipstick. I like when my lipstick looks dark. It’s a kind of dark berry color and it looks great with my red hair.

fullsizeoutput_fdd

On sephora.com the lipstick is  described as “An ultra-slim lipstick with a long- wearing, petal- soft matte finish, created in a rainbow of weightless, color-intense shades designed to flatter all skin tones. The size is 0.06 oz/1.7 g. The cost is $23 Canadian dollars.

fullsizeoutput_fdf

I like the fact that there is a lot of product on the stick. It’s  not like Mac lipsticks where, there is barely anything on the stick. It’s matte, but it doesn’t go on matte like mac lipsticks (Sorry for the constant comparisons mac). It’s very creamy when you apply it then it becomes matte. Genius, right?

fullsizeoutput_fdc

When it dries it’s matte but it’s not dried out matte like Mac matte lipsticks. EVERY TIME I wear mac lipsticks I always have to apply lip gloss over it because it’s so dry!. With this, when its dries it’s not that dry. It’s creamy, you know what I’m saying?

It’s really smooth and it doesn’t clump. I really love the dark colour and they have a wide range of colours. So if you want to go ratchet, there’s a colour for you or, if you want to be girly there’s a color there for you as well

fullsizeoutput_fe2

I also like the shape of the lipstick. The way it’s shaped makes it easier to apply the lipstick to the corners of your lips. I feel like the shape also helps me to keep the lipstick within the correct lines.

Below, are some pictures of me wearing it.

IMG_4961

I’ll give this lipstick a 5/5 stars. It’s not as matte as Fenty Beauty’s Stunna lip paint but I REALLY love the formula and I don’t really love super matte lipsticks anyway. I’ll definitely go back to sephora, to try out some new colours as well. Oh Rihanna please  don’t take all my coins.

What kinds of lipsticks do you use? What brands are your favourites?

Makeup Organizer

Being organized is hard, for me. If you googled the least organized person, my name would probably come up. You know what they say, “Bad habits die hard”.

I’ve been trying to become more organized recently, and I must say, it makes my life easier.

I recently  moved about 3 months ago and I didn’t really know how to organize my makeup or where to put them. I wondered if I should just leave them on my dresser? Do I put them on my washroom counter? Do I just throw them outside? These are the questions, I asked myself.

Well, I found the solution to my problem. Upon researching on Amazon, I saw these really cool plastic organizers, but I didn’t purchase them. One day, I went into the dollar store to get something and I saw similar plastic organizers, I was so happy! And the best thing is that they were so much cheaper than Amazon! Woohoo! Who doesn’t love cheap things?

Below, are some pictures of the organizers I purchased from my local Dollarama store here in Canada.

fullsizeoutput_f64

These are little plastic drawers. I use them to store my foundations, concealers, mascaras etc. It makes my life so much easier.I don’t have to be searching all over the place to find my makeup. I have 3 of them but I’m going to purchase more.

fullsizeoutput_f61

The top drawer is where I put all my concealers and my eyebrow gel. This is where all my Nyx concealears, NARS concealer and Rimmel London eyebrow gel are.

fullsizeoutput_f5e

Below my concealers are my Fenty Beauty match stix and shimmers. I have one for concealing, one for contouring and one for my highlighting. For my concealer I use the shade Latte, for my contouring I use the shade espresso and for my highlight I use the shade Sinamon.

fullsizeoutput_f63

fullsizeoutput_f5c

I put my foundations in the other drawers. I use Fenty Beauty, Maybelline and Loreal Infallible foundations. The drawers are clear, so it’s really easy to find everything.

fullsizeoutput_f5bfullsizeoutput_f5a

So where do I put my brushes, beauty blenders, lipsticks  and setting powder? Well, I also found another little treasure in the dollar store. Here’s a picture below.

fullsizeoutput_f65

fullsizeoutput_f66

This organizer has little pockets where I can put my lipsticks and the bigger pocket is where I put all my 10 brushes. In the middle is where I place my 4 beauty blenders, setting powder and setting spray.

I’ve probably said this a thousand times but this does make my life easier. I don’t have to be searching all over for my makeup. Everything is just there, in front of my face. The drawers are big enough to hold enough products and I love it.

Beauty: The Product I Use for Baking my Face

Baking is a makeup technique that involves letting a setting powder sit on the face for an extended period, usually on top of concealer.

I remember the first time I saw people doing it on YouTube and I thought, “That’s ridiculous, what are they doing?”. But now, Baking is my best friend. Every time I have on makeup just know, my face is baked girl. A girl’s gotta get Baked! Hahaha.

I have oily skin, so setting sprays only make me oilier.I’ve tried several different brands, and none of them work. I’ve also tried different setting powders from ELF cosmetics,Mac cosmetics and also Nyx. These either made me look too ashy, or the powder wasn’t loose enough or it was caked all over my face. Yikes! It was a nightmare.

Luckily, for me, about a year ago I started watching Jeffree Star on YouTube.  A friend told me he was the makeup Guru, of Gurus. He was applying his makeup and then he started using this setting powder and he said, “This is the best setting powder y’all”. And I saw for myself that it was really good. I researched what it was and found out that it was called RCMA No Color Powder and then I purchased it on Amazon. I love it!

fullsizeoutput_f41

When I put this on I use a beauty blender and it doesn’t leave me looking ashy or caked.

fullsizeoutput_f42

There’s a lot in the bottle so I don’t have to buy anymore till next year. Hahaha

fullsizeoutput_f40

I start out by applying my foundation, then concealer, then setting powder. Yes, in that order. I need to sap up that oil baby girl. Haha.

Below are some pictures of the process

1)After applying foundation and concealer get a beauty blender and add setting powder. Don’t add too much, because you don’t want to look ashy.IMG_4668.jpeg

2) Apply powder to your face using the beauty blender. I apply the powder where the concealer is, my T zone area. So my forehead, under eyes nose and chin. Those are the spots that usually get too oily. I let it stay on for about 5 minutes to soak up the oil while I do my eyebrows or eyelashes. I don’t dampen the beauty blender.

IMG_4672

3) Then, I use the same beauty blender and blend out the powder after 5 minutes. Then I switch to a clean beauty blender and brush off the excess powder. Above, I was using a blue beauty blender and in this picture below I’m using a pink one.

IMG_4677-1

4) Then, I use my Quo Powder brush to brush off the rest of the powder and blend everything in.

IMG_4679-1

And this is the end result!

IMG_4689

IMG_4681

I’m not a beauty guru, but this is by far my favourite setting powder. I don’t like setting sprays because they make me oily so this is the best thing for me.

Why I like Online Shopping

Online shopping is not for everyone, maybe that’s why I like it so much. All you have to do is put your items in your shopping cart and you’re done! No hard lifting, no stress. So easy!

IMG_4631

I’ve been shopping online now for a long time. Do I go to the mall? Yes, sometimes but I’m often disappointed.

So, why do I like it so much?

1) I can get the new arrivals before they arrive in the store – Sometimes, I’ll see something online and want to purchase it but, when I go into the store they say they haven’t received it yet. Like what? I like my clothes fresh out the warehouse you know what I’m saying?

IMG_4630

2) You don’t have to wait in line – Have you ever been inside Zara on a Friday? Girl, you should see that line. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Who wants to spend hours in a line when you can have your clothing delivered right to your door.

IMG_4629

3) You get to stand out – Online shopping allows you to stand out. You get the chance to wear one of a kind pieces that no one else has. Every time I wear something unique people ask me “Where did you get that from?” and I’m like “Online!’.

IMG_4632

4) It’s easy – All you need is your credit card or visa debit and that’s it. LOL. You don’t have to spend hours walking through the mall looking for stuff. You just go online and search for what you want and BAM you purchase it and it’s delivered to your door. It’s like magic!

IMG_4634

5) Online has what I want – Have you ever gone into the mall and couldn’t find what you wanted? Yeah, that’s me. I often go into the mall with a vision and most times the mall doesn’t have my vision. P.s. mall, can you get my vision? Hahah.

IMG_4633

Online shopping is really convenient. A lot of my friends say that they could never do it. They ask me “So how do you know your size?”, well, from experience girl.

The first time I bought jeans online they were so tight! But over the years from going to the store and knowing what my size actually is, I now know how it works. You could say I’m a pro now, hahaha.

I only go into the mall really if I’m close by to one, or to test out makeup in Sephora.

As I said before online shopping isn’t for everyone but it works for me. I love it, it’s so easy!

My Favourite Concealer

Finding the right concealer can be tough. Throughout the years, I’ve had my fair share of different brands of concealers. Some leave you looking ashy, oily or out right weird looking.

I have dark under eye circles so I like to use concealer to cover that up. I don’t want people asking me if I’m ok every second, you know what I’m saying? Girl, I know you can relate.

Recently, I found one that works well, The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I absolutely love it!

fullsizeoutput_e64

This concealer is EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING! Yes, believe the hype.

fullsizeoutput_e6a

I vividly remember the day I went to sephora looking for a new good concealer with my friend. I had heard some friends talking about it and decided to see what it was like.I even read the reviews online and 99% were good reviews. There was no one to help me find my shade in the store, so I said to my friend “You know what? I’ll just try them on until I find my shade”. I chose one that looked like it would suit me then I proceeded to apply it. I immediately fell in love. LOL and I’ve never been in love before. After I put it on,I asked my friend how it looked and she said, “Wow, it looks so good, and you chose the right shade too”.  I was so happy.

fullsizeoutput_e66

My shade is Biscuit. Biscuit is a medium dark natural balance of pink and yellow undertones. This covers my dark under eye circles so well and makes my face look radiant. It doesn’t crease! I like when my concealer looks bright and is a tone lighter than my skin tone so I love this.

These photos below show how I apply my concealer.
