Review : Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick

Imagine for a second that lipsticks were never invented. There would be chaos. Girls would be walking around with their lips dry, there would be no color to brighten up your face. Horrid, right? Let’s not imagine that.

Lipsticks are probably my favourite part of makeup. If I don’t have on lipstick I feel really weird. I have really dark lips so wearing  lipstick makes me feel more confident.

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick.

I bought this lipstick sometime last year, and I must say, I really love it. The color that I purchased was Griselda. I chose this colour because I don’t like bright lipstick. I like when my lipstick looks dark. It’s a kind of dark berry color and it looks great with my red hair.

On sephora.com the lipstick is  described as “An ultra-slim lipstick with a long- wearing, petal- soft matte finish, created in a rainbow of weightless, color-intense shades designed to flatter all skin tones. The size is 0.06 oz/1.7 g. The cost is $23 Canadian dollars.

I like the fact that there is a lot of product on the stick. It’s  not like Mac lipsticks where, there is barely anything on the stick. It’s matte, but it doesn’t go on matte like mac lipsticks (Sorry for the constant comparisons mac). It’s very creamy when you apply it then it becomes matte. Genius, right?

When it dries it’s matte but it’s not dried out matte like Mac matte lipsticks. EVERY TIME I wear mac lipsticks I always have to apply lip gloss over it because it’s so dry!. With this, when its dries it’s not that dry. It’s creamy, you know what I’m saying?

It’s really smooth and it doesn’t clump. I really love the dark colour and they have a wide range of colours. So if you want to go ratchet, there’s a colour for you or, if you want to be girly there’s a color there for you as well

I also like the shape of the lipstick. The way it’s shaped makes it easier to apply the lipstick to the corners of your lips. I feel like the shape also helps me to keep the lipstick within the correct lines.

I’ll give this lipstick a 5/5 stars. It’s not as matte as Fenty Beauty’s Stunna lip paint but I REALLY love the formula and I don’t really love super matte lipsticks anyway. I’ll definitely go back to sephora, to try out some new colours as well. Oh Rihanna please  don’t take all my coins.

How to be Happier

People might think that happiness is elusive, it’s not. Just because you’ve had a lot of sad days, it doesn’t mean that you won’t be happy. Bad days don’t last. Yes, sometimes life  circumstances might occur that are out of our control, but happiness can be attained. God didn’t place us here, to wallow in sadness, he wants us to be happy. God says “Though weeping may endure for a night, Joy, comes in the morning”.

I’ve often feel like I don’t deserve to be happy, or I shouldn’t feel happy because of this, or that. I used to feel so guilty. But you know what? Tell that voice to shut up. YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY. You deserve to laugh after all you have been through, you deserve that house, you deserve that new job. Stop feeling guilty because God wants you to be happy.

How can someone feel happier? Well, here are some tips that help

Play an Upbeat Song– You know that song you like? Yeah, that one that makes you get up and dance? Yeah play that. And get up and dance. I like playing Cardi B’s “I like it”, to get me in the dancing mood or some of Kesha’s old songs. Dancing makes me happy.

Go Outside– Fresh air, is good for the soul. If you’re feeling stuck or sad just go outside it will do wonders for you, try it out.

Make Plans– Even something small like going to the movies to see that film that you’ve wanted to see with a friend will make you happier. I like going out at least once per month. If I don’t go out sometimes I start feeling blue.

Get off Social Media and Find Something to do– You wanna know something? Endlessly scrolling through social media is not healthy. Get up and go do something. Go call a friend or go for that run that you’ve been planning since last week. The only reason, I’m on social media so often these days, is because I have to keep up my engagement and for my blogging. I’ve deactivated my Facebook so many times in the past and honestly, I felt happier. Find a hobby, clean your house, that’ll make you feel better.

Express Gratitude – Sometimes when I’m feeling blue, I  start listing off all the things i’m grateful for.I feel so much happier and lighter afterwards. I say things like “I’m grateful for my 10 toes”, “I’m grateful for the roof, over my head”, “God, thank you for my family, I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have them”.

Be kind – One day, last year, when it was really cold, I helped this blind guy find the bus stop and I helped him get off the bus as well. I felt really good about that. I couldn’t stop thinking about how, if I wasn’t there, there would be no one to help him. That made me really happy that day. Sometimes the smallest acts  of kindness can do wonders for others and for your soul as well.

Treat Yourself – Girl, go on that shopping spree, or go for that massage. This will break you out of that rut that you’re in.

Let things go – Negativity isn’t good for anyone. That person that you hate from 3 years ago is enjoying their life and what are you doing? Hmm?. Holding on to things will only make you angry and unhealthy. If you don’t know how to let things go you will never be happy. Leave the past in the past.

Be positive – My philosophy is that, a positive attitude always goes a long way. I say it to my coworkers all the time, and when I do I always feel like some motivational speaker or something LOL. But it does go a long way. Mindset is everything. The computer broke down at work? Still a good day. You forgot your jacket at home? Still a good day.

I’m not saying that you’ll never have bad days. In fact, happiness is something that you have to work on consistently. I’m also not saying you’re going to be walking around giggling all day. But, happiness is a choice. You can choose to be Happy or wallow in sadness. Choose Happiness. Life is too short to not be HAPPY.

Outfits : Spotlight on Dungarees

In Canada, the weather can be very volatile. Recently, we’ve been having somewhat warmer days, as recent, as last week. Dungarees, are a great option for this transitioning weather. They’re long, so if it gets cold, you won’t be freezing and they’re very versatile.

The ones that I’m wearing are from Asos.com. They’re made of polyester and they’re very comfortable. Throw on a T- Shirt underneath and you’ll look like one of the cool kids, or add an off the shoulder top and you’ll look like a bohemian babe.

Dungarees are making a comeback this season and I’m here for it.

 

I chose these black ones because black, is my happy colour and I feel like my best self wearing black.

How to Build Your Self Confidence

Dictionary.com describes the word Confident as “Being sure of oneself, having no uncertainty about one’s own abilities; Bold”. I may seem confident now, but I wasn’t born this way. Confidence is not genetic,I’ve had to work hard over the years to build my confidence.

Bullies, self doubt, fear and life in general can deflate your confidence.How do I know this? Because I’ve personally experienced bullying, low self esteem and fear. I still have self doubts, because I’m human, but now I know I can beat them.

How does one gain self confidence? Is your self confidence in your control?

Yes, you have the power to build your self confidence. Yes, you can be in control of your self worth.

Below are some tips that will help you build your confidence, in no particular order.

  1. Dress Nicely. When you start to dress nicely you will start to feel good about yourself. There are days when my self confidence feels so low but the minute I put on a nice dress or shirt, my confidence goes from 5-500%. Find something in your closet that makes you feel good about yourself
  2. Stay away from Negativity. Try to avoid people who bring you down or make you feel bad about how you look ,or act. Negativity only decreases your confidence. Surround yourself  with people who make you feel good about yourself. People, who uplift you and make you happy.I’m not saying that you should rely on your friends all the time to make you feel good but if they make you feel more bad than good, what’s the point?
  3. Stand Tall. I have the worst posture, so who am I to give this advice?. But I know this works because I do it a lot. When I remind myself to stand tall, with my shoulders pulled back I feel better about myself. In fact, I feel like the baddest bitch in the room.
  4. Create personal boundaries. Learn to say no. Teach others to respect your personal boundaries. Boundaries = more control over your life = higher self confidence.
  5. Care for Yourself.  Make time to take care of yourself. Exercise, eat healthy, get enough rest. One thing I also like to do is masks. Putting on a mask helps me relax and helps my mental health tremendously. Find ways to take care of yourself. When you feel good about yourself, you will feel more confident.
  6. Fake it till you Make it. How does one become more confident? You fake it, till you make it. Yes I said it! And how do you do that? By practicing. Start by looking in the mirror every and telling yourself that you are beautiful, smart, intelligent and that you deserve the best things in life.

Am I the most confident person? No but I’m learning and confidence can be learnt.
