Things You’ll Never See Me Wearing

I love fashion, I really do, but there are just certain things, you will Never see me wearing. If you do happen to see me wearing them though, (because I’m human, Duh), please ask me if I’m OK. Haha. IMG_6233

I don’t follow EVERY trend and I don’t like everything that I see in the stores or online. I just like the things that I like. Don’t you? What’s the point of wearing clothes if you can’t wear the things that you like? Let me spell it out for you, “There’s no point”.With that being said, I do have a list of Things that You’ll Never See Me Wearing. Here it goes…

Floral Dresses or Anything Floral – I HATE anything floral. I’m not a girly girl, maybe that’s why? But I just hate the way how floral things look on me. Whenever I try on anything floral, I just want to rip it off my skin. Haha.

IMG_6234

Sweatpants – I probably only own one pair of sweatpants. Yes, I do get cold in the winter months,  but I just wear jeans. I absolutely hate wearing sweatpants. Haha, sweatpants lovers don’t come for my head. Do I see myself wearing more sweatpants in the future? Absolutely not. The only thing in the sweatpants realm that looks remotely interesting to me, are those Adidas Track Pants. I’m probably going to buy one of those soon.

IMG_6235

Stripes – I remember the first time I bought a striped top for work and I thought it would look good on me, but it didn’t. My problem with stripes, is that they make me boobs look huge. Yes, I already know that my boobs are big, but I like to stay away from things that point out that fact. Will I ever wear stripes in the future? Maybe not a top, but maybe a striped skirt?

IMG_6236

A line Skirts – These don’t look flattering on me at all. I don’t know if I’m not buying the right one or what, but I give up. You’ll never see me in an A line skirt, EVER.There’s just too much material swallowing me up. I can’t be bothered

IMG_6238

Yes, so this is my list. I typically don’t buy things on this list, because I really do hate them. Will I ever change my mind in the future? Maybe. They say “Never Say Never”

They say that fashion is all about taking risks but I’m not into taking risks with things that I hate or that I don’t think look flattering on me.

If you are into wearing A line skirts, by all means, continue, but some things are just not for me.

I’m not trying to change anyone, this post is just about the things that you’ll never see me wearing.

Plaid Comeback Fashion

One of 2018’s  biggest trends is Plaid. The trend isn’t just about school girls wearing those short skirts anymore, or, that red and black tartan shirt that you own. The plaid trend has catapulted into something more. Now, there’s bright coloured plaid styles and even plaid sets. One thing that is clear? Plaid is here to stay.

fullsizeoutput_1257

I bought this Plaid blazer and skirt, about a year ago. I bought the skirt first, because it was so mesmerizing and I couldn’t leave the store without it. I don’t usually wear skirts, but I liked this one because it had buttons and I liked the plaid pattern. The color was really nice as well, it was really subdued which is what I’m into

fullsizeoutput_125f

I had to attend an end of the year office party, so I thought, “Hmm, what should I wear?”, so I went to the mall to see what I could find. I found the plaid blazer and I just had to get it. I thought “This would look amazing with a black pair of skinny jeans”, and so I purchased it. I didn’t even realize that the blazer matched the skirt until I brought it home. Haha. I had never worn a skirt suit before but I decided to try something new.

IMG_5894

So, how does one wear plaid? Well, I think it depends on what event you’re going to, or what look you’re trying to pull off.

The day I wore this outfit, I was trying to come up with a sophisticated look. This look can be worn to the office or a women’s conference. Throw on a nice pair of heels and you’re good to go.

fullsizeoutput_125e

If you’re going for a more casual look with plaids, consider pairing a plaid shirt with some skinny jeans. This type of outfit can be worn on an outing with friends or to the mall. This look will feel effortless.fullsizeoutput_12a5

If you’re someone who is more feminine, I would suggest pairing a plaid top with a leather skirt or high waisted trousers. You can put on some nice stilettos and a bright coloured purse to stand out.

This outfit really made me feel confident. I felt like I was the Prime Minister of Canada.

Whether you choose a larger check plaid print or you choose to mix and match, plaid is here to stay.

So get with the trends girl!

Crochet Fashion

One thing that is clear about me, is that, I love to express myself through my fashion. One day, I might be feeling really dark and I’ll decide to wear all black and the next day I’ll be feeling like a hippie and you’ll see me wearing a long crochet dress. The best thing about fashion, is that you can be anyone, you want to be. It’s the best feeling ever!

Today, I’ll be talking about Crochet Styles. Yes, crochet isn’t just about that hat that your great Aunt made for you, when you were 5 years old or that cover up that you wear to the beach. You can throw on a crochet top with jeans or a crochet skirt with a T- Shirt. It’s all about taking risks this summer.

IMG_5697

Yes, crochet is in style. This trend is very simple and easy to wear. Most people think that you can only wear crochet to the beach but that’s simply not the case. You can wear crochet styles to a bbq, festival or on a cute date.

IMG_5690

This weekend, my friends and I decided to go the TD Irie Fest in Mississauga, Canada. The festival showcases the Caribbean Culture. They had Caribbean food trucks, Jamaican clothing and reggae  music playing. It was so much fun!

IMG_5687

Before the festival, I wondered what I should wear. I wanted to look Caribbean, so I started perusing the internet looking for things. After looking at Forever 21 and other websites, I went to Zara and saw that they had a sale. I was so happy! I then saw this crochet  top and skirt on sale  and I decided to get it. I felt like the skirt and top really captured what I was going for.

IMG_5694

I liked the fact that the skirt and top were black but it had the Rastafarian colours of red, green and yellow. It reminded me of Jamaica (where I’m from), so much. I felt very cool and artsy. I felt like i was representing Jamaica.

IMG_5696

It was a very chilly day, so I decided to wear a denim jacket over the skirt and top. I wore sneakers that night because it rained during the day.

IMG_5699

The thing that I like the most about this outfit, is the simplicity. I don’t feel like I’m trying too hard and it was fit for the occasion. I felt like I took a risk with this and it paid off because I don’t normally wear things like this.

IMG_5688

I’m just trying to have fun this summer and try new things. I really had a tough time last year with my mom being sick, so now, I’m just trying to take everything in, explore, meet new people and just enjoy every moment.

T- Shirt Dresses

I’m not the type of girl who loves to wear tight clothes. Yeah, I’m weird. I think we can all agree to this. I used to though. I was the girl in the tightest high waisted skirts at church or the tightest dresses, where sometimes I couldn’t even  breathe properly. Now, I’ve changed.

fullsizeoutput_1039

I still wear some tight clothes occasionally but they’re never my first choice. Tight dresses just make me feel uncomfortable. I feel like I just want to  tear my clothes off and run around naked. You know what I’m saying?

fullsizeoutput_103c

I also don’t want guys to be staring at my boobs. I know lots of girls love that, but I don’t. I want to be liked for my personality, not my physical appearance.

fullsizeoutput_1038

So my solution to my problem is to dress like a tom boy sometimes. I got into wearing T shirt dresses after seeing Rihanna wearing it. I thought, “That looks so badass!”. So I decided to purchase one about 2 years ago and I’ve never looked back since. Haha.

fullsizeoutput_103a

T shirt dresses are very easy to wear. Throw one on and you’re good to leave the house. Ya’ll know how much of a lazy dresser I am, so this works perfectly. I don’t want to be zipping up anything or putting on jeans. Yikes!

fullsizeoutput_103d

I also like the fact that T shirt dresses are so chill and laid back. When I wear this I don’t feel like I’m trying too hard. I feel very relaxed. You can dress it up with heels or dress it down with sneakers.

fullsizeoutput_103e.jpeg

I chose my caged Justfab heels to wear with the dress because they made me feel badass. I also wanted to show my edgy side. I felt like I was Rihanna for a day! Fam, do you know how great that feels?

I’m all about dressing comfortably. If I can’t be comfortable, then what’s the point?

I’m not bashing people who like to wear tight clothes. Do you! But this is me.

Be your authentic self, always.

This dress is from Zara. It’s really affordable and I love the slogan on the front of it. You can shop it Here

Why I love Wearing Dresses

Dresses are my best friends! Yeah, I said it!. If you viewed my closet, you would see that 90 % of my clothes,  are dresses. There are red ones, black ones, blue ones, floral ones, every colour that you could imagine. I probably own 2 skirts. Haha, I’m a weirdo.ACS_0005

So, why do I love wearing dresses so much? Well, here’s why…..

1)It’s so easy – All you have to do is throw on a dress and go. YES, it’s that easy, no fuss, no stress. I’m lazy OK?.I like things that are easy, don’t you?

ACS_0004

2) Dresses make me look good – Have you ever passed  by a mirror and looked at yourself and said “Damn son, I LOOK GOOD’. Yeah, dresses make me feel like that. You should try it sometime.

ACS_0006

3) Skirts are the worst – Yo, I can’t deal with skirts. Like I can’t. When you buy a skirt you have to find the right top to go with it. You have to find the right type of skirt for your taste and style. Like hmm do I want to wear an ‘A’ line skirt or a pencil skirt. Or, hmm ‘A’ line skirts make me look fat so I’m not going to wear it. Lol, too much work.

ACS_0007

4) It lifts my mood – One day when I was feeling down I tried on a red dress in my closet and I instantly felt better. Instantly, I just started smiling and laughing.

ACS_0010

5) I like showing off my legs – Ok, so I have nice legs, I get compliments on them all the time. Wearing pants doesn’t allow me to do that, hence why I love wearing dresses.

ACS_0008

6) Dresses make me feel free – I don’t know why, but when I wear a dress, I feel free. I can feel the wind on my legs. I can feel the sun on my skin. Dresses just makes me feel happy and free.

Look, I’m not telling anyone to love or wear dresses. I love them because of the reasons above.Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, whether that’s jeans, or skirts or if you feel like wearing an outfit straight off the runway. Or, if you feel like wearing sweatpants.

Be your authentic self always.

My dress is from Zara. I bought it last December but unfortunately it’s not in stock anymore. However, you can find similar ones Here

Trend Spotting : Pantsuits

Perhaps, you thought that the era of pantsuits was over, well, you thought wrong.

It’s official, pants suits are back! Yes, matching your blazer with your pants is in style again. Yass honey! Grab that pantsuit that’s tucked away at the back of your closet hun.

Celebrities have been spotted all over wearing this trend, in varying styles and colours. You can see this trend frequently on celebrities like Bella Hadid, Tracee Ellis Ross and Beyonce.

Processed with VSCO with kk1 preset

So, where did this trend begin? Well, in 1850, Amelia Bloomer, a women’s rights activist popularized the “bloomer pant” aka the baggy pant created by Elizabeth Smith Miller. By the 20th century, women’s pants were only appropriate for “occasional dressing only”.

By the 1920’s and 30’s celebrities dared to wear full pantsuits to movie premieres. Pants, were deemed as men’s wear. Ordinary women were fined for wearing pants. Women in the United States were barred from wearing pants on the senate floor until 1993 when the “Pantsuit Rebellion” overturned that rule.

Today, the pantsuit is used to make a statement of power for women. It’s showing the world that  women matter and we have a voice. We can now be on equal footing with men in the workplace.

There are so many variations of pantsuits right now. There are  bright colours like read, pink and yellow. The blazers are structured differently now, instead of shoulder pads there are  peplum blazers, kimono blazers etc.

Some of the blazers now have patterns like gingham, florals and checkers.

I bought this pantsuit, a year ago from Zara. My best friend was graduating from University and I wanted to wear something sophisticated but cool. It was winter so I didn’t want to wear a dress so I chose a suit.  I mean, who wants to be outside trembling in the cold? Definitely not me.

The color of the suit is army green and it’s really light weight. You can wear it on a sunny day and not feel over heated. The pants are high waisted and the blazer has buttons on the front in case you want to button up.

The price was reasonable and I didn’t have to break the bank. I think I purchased this suit for about $120 in total. Cheap, I know right? And people say that Zara is expensive. Haha, that’s funny.

I know, pantsuits can be tricky, you have to find the right size and make sure the pants are tailored to your liking. You can either dress it up with heels or down with sneakers. This suit makes me feel like a girl boss. It makes me feel like I can do anything I set my mind to.

Are you going  to a wedding or work function this weekend? Why don’t you try something new? Try a pantsuit instead of a dress. As drake would say ,”You only live once”.

Why I like Online Shopping

Online shopping is not for everyone, maybe that’s why I like it so much. All you have to do is put your items in your shopping cart and you’re done! No hard lifting, no stress. So easy!

IMG_4631

I’ve been shopping online now for a long time. Do I go to the mall? Yes, sometimes but I’m often disappointed.

So, why do I like it so much?

1) I can get the new arrivals before they arrive in the store – Sometimes, I’ll see something online and want to purchase it but, when I go into the store they say they haven’t received it yet. Like what? I like my clothes fresh out the warehouse you know what I’m saying?

IMG_4630

2) You don’t have to wait in line – Have you ever been inside Zara on a Friday? Girl, you should see that line. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Who wants to spend hours in a line when you can have your clothing delivered right to your door.

IMG_4629

3) You get to stand out – Online shopping allows you to stand out. You get the chance to wear one of a kind pieces that no one else has. Every time I wear something unique people ask me “Where did you get that from?” and I’m like “Online!’.

IMG_4632

4) It’s easy – All you need is your credit card or visa debit and that’s it. LOL. You don’t have to spend hours walking through the mall looking for stuff. You just go online and search for what you want and BAM you purchase it and it’s delivered to your door. It’s like magic!

IMG_4634

5) Online has what I want – Have you ever gone into the mall and couldn’t find what you wanted? Yeah, that’s me. I often go into the mall with a vision and most times the mall doesn’t have my vision. P.s. mall, can you get my vision? Hahah.

IMG_4633

Online shopping is really convenient. A lot of my friends say that they could never do it. They ask me “So how do you know your size?”, well, from experience girl.

The first time I bought jeans online they were so tight! But over the years from going to the store and knowing what my size actually is, I now know how it works. You could say I’m a pro now, hahaha.

I only go into the mall really if I’m close by to one, or to test out makeup in Sephora.

As I said before online shopping isn’t for everyone but it works for me. I love it, it’s so easy!
