Review: Clinique Stay Matte Oil – Free Makeup (Sample)

Everyone loves foundation! I mean, foundation is Everything! Who doesn’t love a good foundation that they can depend on, and use for years and years? Who doesn’t love quality foundation that meets their needs and matches their skin tones? I know, I do!

Today, I want to review Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup (Sample). I’ve never used the brand Clinique before, but I was excited to try this.

IMG_9318.jpg

First Impressions

I didn’t know what my shade was so I chose the shade golden because it looked close to my foundation shade that I would normally use. When I applied it to my skin it felt really thick.

IMG_9321

The Results

The foundation seemed to be medium coverage or light coverage because it didn’t cover up my spots when I applied it. And it also didn’t really blend well. Also, I think that the shade that I chose was a little too dark for my skin tone. It was a little dry too as well and it didn’t really cover up my pores.

The Verdict

I’m going to give this foundation a 3/5 stars. It didn’t blend well. Also the coverage was too light, it seemed like I would have to use a lot to cover my spots. And I NEED  to cover my spots, you know what I’m saying. It seemed like it was really matte though, which I give the brand thumbs up for. I mean, when you have oily skin matte foundations are key.  Also the price wasn’t too bad, on sephora.com it costs $35, which is way cheaper than most foundations that cost $42 and up.

These are just my thoughts though. Maybe you tried it and loved it, everyone’s skin is different and have different makeup needs.

Have you ever tried this foundation before? If so, what did you think of it? Comment below

How to Wear Layers for Fall

Fall is upon us and it’s really cold outside. I don’t know where you live, but in Canada it feels like winter already. With the dropped temperatures it’s time for scarves, sweaters and boots. It’s time to layer up!  The only thing with layers is that, sometimes you get too hot, but I’d rather be hot than cold. You know what I’m saying?Today, I want to show you some really fashionable ways to wear layers.

IMG_9252.jpg

For this look, I wore a nude coat over my outfit as a cape. It really made the outfit pop.  and incorporated colour into my all black ensemble. It made my outfit look really high fashion. A black coat would have made the outfit boring.

IMG_9254

Under the coat, I wore a black blazer, this really provided a lot of warmth as I was only wearing a tank top underneath. The blazer was double breasted and it looked really smart on me.

IMG_9262

I also wore a really thick grey scarf to keep out the cold from my neck. This I bought from H&M a year ago.

IMG_9259

There are so many ways that you can layer up for fall. You can wear cardigans under your jacket, scarves, sweatshirts with an added shirt underneath, so many ways!

Are you layering up? Or are you someone who likes the cold and doesn’t care about being warm? Comment below.

Fall Fashion Trends You Won’t See Me Wearing

I’m a trend whore!  Yes I am. As soon as a new trend comes out, I’m on it like hot chocolate and milk. Like bread and butter. Get it? But ,there are certainly some trends that you won’t see me wearing! Unfortunately, not everything looks good on me OK?

AfterlightImage

This Fall season is about taking being noticed and fierce animal attraction. All across the runway I see Neons, Animal prints, snakeskin styles…. so much to choose from! Here’s a list of the trends that you most likely will never see me in

1. Neon –  This one is just not for me. The only bright colours that I like are red and yellow. I just can’t see myself in Neon green and neon pink. I hate attention and this would be too much. Imagine me in neon orange. Yeah, I can’t imagine that either.

2.Animal print – Animal print is all over. I mean, every time I sign into instagram I see some influencer in animal print. It looks great on them but I can’t see myself in head to toe animal print. In fact, I don’t really like prints in general. Maybe I’d consider wearing an animal print bag or even a scarf. Little things you know?

Animal Prints

3.Clueless Plaid – This trend looks really cool but too many bright colours for me. It’s just not my taste. I prefer normal plaids like red or green.

AfterlightImage

These are the trends that you will never see me in. I mean maybe one day I’ll change my mind but for now I don’t see myself in these things.

Never say Never they say.

Disclaimer : All these are my words and I’m just being honest. Some photos were taken from google and are labelled as such.

What did you think of this post? Have you tired any of these trends?

It Cosmetics – Confidence in a Cleanser Skin Transforming Hydrating Serum Review

I have a love hate relationship with serums. I like the idea of them, and I like to see how people use them, and then their skin become so flawless, but I’ve just had bad experiences with them. They’re either too oily and make my skin break out, or I don’t see any results.

Today, I want to Review It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser Skin Transforming Serum. I’ve never use the It Cosmetics brand before but I was excited to try this out.

fullsizeoutput_2190.jpeg

First Impressions

I cleansed my face with my Mario Badescu glycolic cleanser. I then left my face damp. Next, I opened the package of the It cosmetics serum. Once I opened the package, I really liked the smell. It smelled like lemons. It went on smoothly. The package said to rub into the skin for 30 seconds so I did that, then I rinsed it off.

The Results

I rinsed off the cleanser and pat dried my face. I noticed that the cleanser took off some extra dirt around my nose area. I was like, “Didn’t I just cleanse my face before, with Mario Badescu glycolic cleanser and it didn’t take off that dirt?”. After my face was dried, I noticed that it looked really clean. Like extremely clean.

The Results

The Verdict?

Well, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this serum. It left my skin looking smooth and clean. More clean than if I were to use just my cleanser which is bonkers to me.Who would’ve thought? It didn’t leave my skin dry at all. It felt really hydrating. I felt like I could cleanse my face with this and not have to moisturize after.  I also looked it up on Sephora.com and it costs $36 which is not too bad for a cleanser. Would I purchase this? Hell yeah! I’m going to give this a 5/5 stars.

A Day In The Life of A Blogger

I think I’ve said this countless times, “Blogging is like a second job”. It’s not a hard second job, it’s really fun,  but it’s a lot of work and effort. Instead of sleeping in, you have to wake up and plan outfits and write about them. It’s like your weekends aren’t yours anymore because they belong to blogging. But I’m happy, at least I get to immerse myself into something creative.

Today, I want to walk you through A day in my life as a Blogger.

AfterlightImage

So here’s how my day goes…..

1. I get ready – I wake up and take a shower. I used to take my blog photos early in the mornings in the summertime and I used  wake up at 7 am on Sundays, but now it’s really dark and ugly outside and I don’t want to spend hours editing my pics and adding light to them. So now ,I take my photos indoors, in my room to be precise. I start around 5 pm

AfterlightImage

2. I choose my Outfits – Look, I’m not one of those rich people who can afford to buy clothes all the time. I buy clothes occasionally for events. When blogging, I don’t necessarily plan my outfits the night before. Sometimes ,I’ll just walk into my closet and say, “Hmm, that pants would look great with that shirt”, and that’s how I come up with my outfits. And sometimes I get inspiration from Instagram. It’s all very random, it’s not something that I plan really. I always have one outfit for my blog, and I also take additional photos  of different outfits for my instagram as well.

AfterlightImage

3. I set up my Camera – I used to have a photographer, then my mom started taking my photos for me. Now, I take them by myself. So how do I take them by myself? I use my tripod, and I use my Iphone 7. I have a professional camera, but the focus on it is trash so now I use my phone. I also have a light in my room that enhances my pictures. And I put my phone on self timer for 10 seconds and I take a whole bunch of photos.

AfterlightImage

4 I edit my photos – Editing is not a long process for me. I use Afterlight because it has dust and I like the presets as well. It basically has everything that I like to add to my photos, and it’s really easy to use. Sometimes I use Vsco cam and Lightroom as well.

AfterlightImage

5. I blog – Coming up with a topic to blog about, is hard sometimes. I have a list of topics but sometimes it’s still hard to find one that fits.. I always do my blogs based on the photos I take. Maybe I should change that though. Sometimes I also find inspiration from other bloggers. It takes me an hour to blog, depending on what I’m blogging about but I enjoy writing. It’s one of the subjects that I truly enjoyed in High school.

This is how my Fashion blogging days usually go. This is a day in the life of Raceen, the Fashion blogger. It’s a lot of work but I know that one day it will pay off. And it’s actually things that I LOVE TO DO. I LOVE to write, I LOVE taking photos and I LOVE editing.

Blogging is the best.

Review : Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation

Foundation is the one thing that I can’t live without. Put me on an island with other cosmetics and I’ll always choose foundation. A girl’s gotta cover up her spots, you know what I’m saying?

Today, I want to review the Becca  Skin Love Weightless Blur  Foundation. This is a breathable, medium coverage liquid foundation with a buildable finish that enhances the natural beauty of your skin, this is what the package states.

fullsizeoutput_208d

First Impressions

I decided to use the shade Maple because it seemed similar to the shade that I used with my regular foundation by Fenty Beauty.

LDqsMbVZTyCJSnE3H+W51Q

1.So first thing, I really liked that it covered my spots. I didn’t have to use a lot of foundation to cover up. I really liked this, because with so many other foundations you have to use so much to cover everything.

2. It went on smoothly, I didn’t really have to blend it out too much.

IMG_8734

After an Hour

After an hour, I checked back on my skin. I noticed that the foundation didn’t move. There was no oil dripping off my skin or anything.

The Downside

After the hour, I noticed that the foundation started flaking. It didn’t really look natural or feel breathable. It felt heavy on my skin.

The Verdict

I’m going to give this foundation a 3.5/5 stars. I liked the coverage the best and I liked that it went on smoothly. But after the hour it looked patchy and just ugly. It retails for $53 on Sephora.com. Would I spend that much money on this foundation? No, I don’t think it’s worth the price and the bottle looks really small for the price.

Yes, so this was my review of this foundation. What did you think of this post? Do you use this foundation? What did you think of it?

How Blogging Has Helped Me With my Wardrobe

Blogging is one of my favourite  creative outlets. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog but I didn’t know where to start but I did my research and here I am today. It’s been a fun ride of strategizing and figuring things out and I’m still learning everyday but I’m happy that I started.

Today, I’ll be sharing the ways blogging has helped me with my wardrobe in the last 6 months.

AfterlightImage

These are the ways that blogging has helped me with my wardrobe in the last 6 months

1 I’ve learned to utilize the clothes in my closet – Look, if I was rich I’d buy clothes all the time, but I’m not rich OK? Blogging has helped me really search and make use of the clothes in my closet. Now I feel like I’m a stylist or something because I’m so good at putting together outfits now. I just use the clothes in my closet and make them fashionable! And I save that way.

AfterlightImage

2 I think I became more stylish – I was always into fashion, but now I feel like my outfits are more elevated. Now, I feel like they are more put together and thought out. It makes me feel like I’m just coming off the runway.AfterlightImage

3 I’m more organized now – I’m the least organized person, but blogging has gotten me colour coordinating my closet and all that. I have to stay organized so that I can find my outfits. All my jeans are in one place now, where I can find them. My life is easy now.

AfterlightImage

4 It’s helped me figure out what fits and what has to go – On a weekly basis I take maybe 50 photos to post throughout the week. Blogging has helped me figure out what clothes look good on me and what has to go. I mean, the pictures show everything and I mean Everything. So now my closet isn’t piled up with clothes that don’t look good or don’t fit me anymore. Thanks blogging.

Yes, so these are all the ways that blogging has helped me improve my wardrobe. Going into this I didn’t think that I would learn so much in 6 months,  but I’m happy for the lessons. Blogging is hard work, but I enjoy it.

My dress is from Zara, you can shop it Here

Advice : How to Find Your Purpose

fullsizeoutput_1df4.jpeg“Finding my purpose was so easy”, said no one ever. I mean, if it was so easy everyone would know what they wanted to do. Everyone would be happy. But, finding your purpose can be a struggle for most of us, sometimes, it takes years to figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life. Today, I want to give some advice on How to Find Your Purpose.

First, let’s define the word “Purpose”. According to Dictionary.com, purpose is defined as, “The reason for which something exists or is done‘. So some questions to ask yourself is, “What’s important to me?” and “What can I do with my time?”

Here are some tips to figure out what’s Important to you which will lead you to your purpose hopefully

  1. Find your passion – I truly believe that your passion leads you to your purpose. What were you interested in as a boy or girl? Was it music? Was it poetry? For me, creating has always been my passion since I was a little girl, you would always see me drawing clothes and creating stuff. My parents have always wanted me to go into other fields though, and I’ve tried, but they just aren’t for me. My other passions also include helping people, which I hope this blog does.
  2. You have to be able to make a sacrifice – So if you want to be a Doctor are you willing to stay up all night studying? Are you willing to sacrifice going out with your friends to draw that painting? Nothing in life comes easy, so if you want something you have to be willing to work overtime for it.
  3. What keeps you up at night? – I’m always on my phone, even late at night. You could say that I’m addicted to my phone. But I’ve found what’s behind being on my phone is my need for self improvement. I’m always reading blogs and watching videos on how to improve myself, strategizing etc. Always reading about stuff that will help me improve my skills. Reading books on my phone has helped me become a better writer, and Instagram has helped me learn to market myself. Look, 2 weeks ago I didn’t know how to edit videos for Youtube. Now with these tips I’m on my way to becoming my own boss. I’m also now taking a marketing class online to improve my skills.
  4. Get to doing Stuff – Yes, you’re passionate about Writing, or doing hair but what have you done? When’s the last time you wrote something? I mean, it’s good to have passions but it’s what you do with them that matters. Stop talking and start doing.
  5. You have to be willing to embarrass yourself and learn how to handle failure – Look, when I started this blog I had no clue on what I was doing. I asked some of my friends for feedback and some of them said, “Yo, this is bad” but that didn’t stop me. My first Youtube video was a disaster but I just laughed at myself and continued. Also when I started no one really read my blog, yes, I felt discouraged at first but that just propelled me to work even harder.

Some people are very fortunate to know what they want to do from the moment  they can talk. For many others though, it’s a struggle. And sometimes parents don’t help because they want to force their dreams on their kids.

What did you want to be when you were a little boy or girl? What do you want your legacy to be when you leave this world?

Purpose =What’s Important to You

Don’t live your life living someone else’s purpose. Live your Own.

Finding your purpose is simply finding something that defines you, something that fulfills you, something that you would stay up all night for.

But Purpose requires action. So that Book that you’ve been thinking about writing? Start writing! Even if it’s in your journal. Want to become the next Justin Bieber? Start making Youtube covers.Work on your craft everyday. And look, if you’re worried that your passion won’t gain you any money, everything can be monetized in this age of social media.

The point is, start somewhere. The only thing we have really, is time.

Hopefully these tips will help someone, I don’t have it all figured out but I’m learning and sharing as I go.

Using Elf Cosmetics Eyeshadow to Create A Dramatic Look

“Does this eyeshadow look good on me?”, I ask my mom. “Yes, it looks great”,she exclaims. I have to do a double take because I’m wondering if I’m talking to my mom or someone totally different. I mean, my mom always complains that I wear too much makeup.

Today, I want to show you all, how I created this dramatic look using Elf Cosmetics Eyeshadow Collection. Look, I’m not the type to wear dramatic looks like this, I always keep it simple or I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. Today was different though, I wanted to try something new.fullsizeoutput_1e9c

So this is the palette that I used. I bought it in my local Shoppers Drugmart here in Canada. It cost me about $20. I bought it 2 years ago.

I used dark green and silver for my inner crease.

Using the Dark Green Colour

Silver Colour

fullsizeoutput_1e9a.jpeg

Yes, so this is the finished look. I liked that the green complemented the silver so well. Would I ever wear this look out? I don’t think so, it’s too much. Maybe I’d wear it to a Halloween Party or something if I ever went to one. But I must say, for someone who isn’t a pro at doing eyeshadow, I did a great job! I’m surprised y’all! Shoutout to Youtube!

What did you think of this post? Do you often sport dramatic eyemakeup looks or do you like more simpler makeup? Comment below.

One Blouse, 3 Ways

IMG_8308

“I have nothing to wear”. Have you ever uttered those words before? I know, I have. Sometimes it’s just hard to find clothes ok? I wish I was one of those rich,  celebrities who have an infinite number of clothes you know? Life would be so much easier! But, I’m not rich, so I have to make do with what I have. You can always make a brand new outfit out of the clothes, that you do own. Make it work girl. Today I’ll be showing you how I styled One Blouse in 3 ways.

So I bought this top about a year ago and this is how I styled it in 3 ways.

Blouse with Jeans

I styled the top with jeans from forever 21. These are some of my favourite jeans because it’s embroidered with pizza on it. It’s just different and I like different. This style can be worn on a night out with friends or a party. I purchased these jeans about 3 years ago, so they are sold out, but you can purchase similar ones Here. The blouse is from Zara but it’s a year old but you can find similar ones Here

fullsizeoutput_1dc4

fullsizeoutput_1da4

fullsizeoutput_1db8

Blouse with A Skirt

This look can be worn to church. The plaid skirt is from H&M. I really like this look because it’s very sophisticated. The green blouse  makes the outfit pop. The skirt is old but you can find similar styles Here

fullsizeoutput_1d9b

fullsizeoutput_1dc2

Blouse with Trousers

This look can be worn to the office. The pants are pinstriped and are from this local store called Suzy shier in my community. You change shoes and put on stilettos or flats.

fullsizeoutput_1e07

fullsizeoutput_1e06

fullsizeoutput_1e08

Yes, so this is how I styled this blouse in 3 different ways. You don’t have to be rich or have plenty of clothes to look fashionable. You can work with what you have. Instead of spending money all the time to buy new clothes, just style the ones you have differently. It’s easy!
