How To Find the Right Type of Clothes for Your Body Type

Hey ya’ll! I’m back! Did you miss me? Because I missed you all so much. I’ve been gone for about 2 weeks now. I’ve just been going through a lot more than usual lately. My emotions have been so up and down. One minute I’m happy, the next, I’m sad. Just pray for me ya’ll. Yeah, so I took a break, I was going to stay longer than 2 weeks but my spirit just said to me “Did you start this blog for yourself or to help people?”, then I remembered my purpose and decided to start today. My advice for anyone who feels like throwing in the towel, “Always remember your why”. Also, my friend called me and told me to get my shit together LOL because she missed my blog posts and not to let shit get me down. She’s the best.

Today I want to talk about Finding the right Clothes for Your Body.

I recently took an online test to find out what my body type was. Not that I didn’t know, but I was just curious to see what the results would be, or maybe bored LOL. I took measurements and at the end, it said I had a body like Cameron Diaz. At first I was baffled, but then when I saw the characteristics I was less confused.

The characteristics of Cameron Diaz body type are as follows

  • Torso and upper body almost same width as hips = Me
  • Lean limbs = Me
  • Straight Waist = Me

The test suggested a few things to wear for my body type so I want to show you how I styled some of these looks

Wear tops, dresses that cinch at the waistline

I already do wear things that cinch at the waistline or I’ll wear a belt because I know that I don’t have a defined waistline. I need to start working out again LOL. I bought this dress from Fashion Nova. It’s from the Cardi B collection. This is my first time buying clothes from Fashion Nova because their clothes don’t really fit my aesthetic but as soon as I saw Cardi B’s collection I fell in love. All the pieces from her collection looked so bomb! And you all know how much I love Cardi B. On U.S. thanksgiving they had a 50% sale on everything so I decided to get this dress from the collection. I typically don’t really wear yellow but I decided to step out of comfort zone. It’s a win, win situation you know what I’m saying? As you can see the belt gives me a more defined waist. Wear Round Skirts

This skirt is definitely one of my favourites. It’s from Zara. It’s snakeskin which is on trend and it just makes me look so classy.I wore this to church 2 weeks in a row, but to different churches. It’s so easy and effortless. It also makes me look like I have Kim Kardashian like hips. I mean, my hips are not this broad in real life, but thanks skirt! Shop it Here

Wear Low V necks or U necks that fall below the collarbone

I tend to not wear V necks because my boobs are huge. But when I saw this dress on Zara’s website a couple months ago I couldn’t resist and it was in my favourite colour too, red. When I tried it on I was so happy that it didn’t expose too much. I mean it’s hard out here for us bigger boob girls.  Shop my dress Here

Wear Boot cut pants

We all love skinny jeans. I used to, but these days I find myself wearing more boot cut pants or cargo pants and less skinny jeans. I mean, skinny jeans make you look sexy but these days I’m just over them. I just want to be comfy in my boot cut pants. Boot cut pants create curvature and makes it look like you have broader hips. These are camouflage cargo pants from Forever 21. At first, I was a little skeptical about the colours because I’m someone who likes to stick to neutral tones, but I said, screw it, and bought them. I really love them, they are so comfy and who doesn’t like comfort in this freezer we call Canada? Shop my pants Here

This test didn’t reveal anything mind blowing. It just showed me the things that I already wear and own that make me look good. If you are lost though,  and don’t really know what fits your body type you can take a test like the one that I took, to find out what would best fit you. But everyone should know themselves and figure out what suits you and what doesn’t. And trust me, if you don’t know, the mirror will tell you. The mirror doesn’t lie babe. Xoxo

I Went Thrifting

I went thrifting on Saturday night. To be clear, this wasn’t my first time thrifting. I have done this maybe 5 years ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. Back then, I had found a really nice leather skirt and a red blazer and I really loved them. So what prompted me to go thrifting on Saturday? Well, this lady on Instagram named Netta started a Goodwill challenge and I was so inspired to go thrifting to see if I could find some nice pieces just like she had. Follow her Here

The thrift store that I went to is called Talize. I had been there many years before, but I wondered if they were still as good as they had been before. I also donated a few items from my closet.

To be honest it was really hard to find anything.I searched the whole store but I only found two things that I really liked. A faux fur coat and a blazer. I’ll show you the looks below.

The Faux Fur Coat

I was going to buy a brown faux fur coat, but I figured that everyone on instagram has brown teddy coats so let me get something different. It’s black and grey and cost $24.00. The price is reasonable compared to the prices of faux fur coats from Forever 21 and other stores which can go from $50- $150. This coat makes me feel rich. I felt like I had 5 million dollars in the bank. It’s a little oversized but that’s how I like my coats, it gives you room to add layers underneath if you want to. I wore it with my blue one shouldered dress from Zara and tall boots from Shoe-dazzle. This coat could be worn to a banquet or some elegant event and no one would know that it’s thrifted. Oh, the beauty of thrifting.

The Blazer

This blazer is sort’ve a pinkish nude colour. I really liked that it was so different from all the blazers that I owned. I liked that it was long because I really like when blazers cover my butt. I just think I look better in long blazers ok? I liked the gold buttons on the front as well. The cost of this blazer was $9 but they had a sale where blazers were 50% off so I got it for $4.50. I would say that’s a good deal, wouldn’t you? I mean, where else can you go and find a blazer for $4.50? Nowhere. I paired the blazer with jeans and my trusty ankle boots. This look gives off elevated casual vibes.

Conclusion

Thrifting has taught me that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look good. You can go to a thrift store and find fashionable pieces for less. Also, you get to help the community by donating and giving back to the poor. This thrift store that I went to called Talize, they give back to the Children’s Wish Foundation. This foundation grants the wishes of Canadian children diagnosed with life threatening illnesses. So I’m happy that I went there.

Will I go back? I think I just might.

Fall Fashion Trends You Won’t See Me Wearing

I’m a trend whore!  Yes I am. As soon as a new trend comes out, I’m on it like hot chocolate and milk. Like bread and butter. Get it? But ,there are certainly some trends that you won’t see me wearing! Unfortunately, not everything looks good on me OK?

AfterlightImage

This Fall season is about taking being noticed and fierce animal attraction. All across the runway I see Neons, Animal prints, snakeskin styles…. so much to choose from! Here’s a list of the trends that you most likely will never see me in

1. Neon –  This one is just not for me. The only bright colours that I like are red and yellow. I just can’t see myself in Neon green and neon pink. I hate attention and this would be too much. Imagine me in neon orange. Yeah, I can’t imagine that either.

2.Animal print – Animal print is all over. I mean, every time I sign into instagram I see some influencer in animal print. It looks great on them but I can’t see myself in head to toe animal print. In fact, I don’t really like prints in general. Maybe I’d consider wearing an animal print bag or even a scarf. Little things you know?

3.Clueless Plaid – This trend looks really cool but too many bright colours for me. It’s just not my taste. I prefer normal plaids like red or green.

These are the trends that you will never see me in. I mean maybe one day I’ll change my mind but for now I don’t see myself in these things.

Never say Never they say.

Disclaimer : All these are my words and I’m just being honest. Some photos were taken from google and are labelled as such.

What did you think of this post? Have you tired any of these trends?

A Day In The Life of A Blogger

I think I’ve said this countless times, “Blogging is like a second job”. It’s not a hard second job, it’s really fun,  but it’s a lot of work and effort. Instead of sleeping in, you have to wake up and plan outfits and write about them. It’s like your weekends aren’t yours anymore because they belong to blogging. But I’m happy, at least I get to immerse myself into something creative.

Today, I want to walk you through A day in my life as a Blogger.

AfterlightImage

So here’s how my day goes…..

1. I get ready – I wake up and take a shower. I used to take my blog photos early in the mornings in the summertime and I used  wake up at 7 am on Sundays, but now it’s really dark and ugly outside and I don’t want to spend hours editing my pics and adding light to them. So now ,I take my photos indoors, in my room to be precise. I start around 5 pm

AfterlightImage

2. I choose my Outfits – Look, I’m not one of those rich people who can afford to buy clothes all the time. I buy clothes occasionally for events. When blogging, I don’t necessarily plan my outfits the night before. Sometimes ,I’ll just walk into my closet and say, “Hmm, that pants would look great with that shirt”, and that’s how I come up with my outfits. And sometimes I get inspiration from Instagram. It’s all very random, it’s not something that I plan really. I always have one outfit for my blog, and I also take additional photos  of different outfits for my instagram as well.

AfterlightImage

3. I set up my Camera – I used to have a photographer, then my mom started taking my photos for me. Now, I take them by myself. So how do I take them by myself? I use my tripod, and I use my Iphone 7. I have a professional camera, but the focus on it is trash so now I use my phone. I also have a light in my room that enhances my pictures. And I put my phone on self timer for 10 seconds and I take a whole bunch of photos.

AfterlightImage

4 I edit my photos – Editing is not a long process for me. I use Afterlight because it has dust and I like the presets as well. It basically has everything that I like to add to my photos, and it’s really easy to use. Sometimes I use Vsco cam and Lightroom as well.

AfterlightImage

5. I blog – Coming up with a topic to blog about, is hard sometimes. I have a list of topics but sometimes it’s still hard to find one that fits.. I always do my blogs based on the photos I take. Maybe I should change that though. Sometimes I also find inspiration from other bloggers. It takes me an hour to blog, depending on what I’m blogging about but I enjoy writing. It’s one of the subjects that I truly enjoyed in High school.

This is how my Fashion blogging days usually go. This is a day in the life of Raceen, the Fashion blogger. It’s a lot of work but I know that one day it will pay off. And it’s actually things that I LOVE TO DO. I LOVE to write, I LOVE taking photos and I LOVE editing.

Blogging is the best.

How to Transition from Summer to Autumn Fashion

Autumn is quickly approaching can you believe it? I know, I can’t believe it either! It makes me sad that summer is leaving us.  I know that some of you are excited for sweater weather but I’m not.Summer is my favourite season ok? With autumn coming it’s time to change things up!

AfterlightImage

Here are some tips on How to Transition from Summer to Autumn Fashion.

Layer, Layer, Layer– The best way to transition from summer to autumn is by layering. So if you have a sleeveless dress like I do in this picture it’s best to layer with a light coat or leather jacket to keep out the chill. Don’t go overboard though.I’ve had this coat for about 2 years now and whenever it’s chilly I just throw it over my outfits.

AfterlightImage

Wear Stilettos  And Boots Instead of Sandals – This is a no brainer, but when it starts to get cold I stop wearing my heeled sandals. I mean, do you like it when your toes are cold? Because I don’t.

AfterlightImage

Wear Neutral Colours– Autumn is about neutrals and dark colours. As the picture above I like to wear tans, browns, burgundy etc. I don’t really wear bright colours like yellow and green in Autumn. I mean, you can if you want to, it’s always good to break the rules. But I guess the dark colours go with the gloomy weather? Haha

AfterlightImage

Add tights to Dresses – Tights keep you warm in Autumn so stock up on them. Whenever I go to my local dollar store I always get 5 packs, so they can last a long time.

AfterlightImage

Wear Scarves – In Canada, it always gets really cold by October. A good way to combat this cold is by wearing a scarf. Last year, I purchased a really nice thick one from H&M, and I have no regrets.

IMG_7370

Yeah, so that’s how I transition from Summer to Autumn. I like Autumn Fashion but I prefer Summer. I just love the sun and I love letting my legs breathe.

I bought this dress years ago from H&M but you can find similar ones Here

I also bought this coat a couple years ago but here’s a similar one in the link Here
