Review: Clinique Stay Matte Oil – Free Makeup (Sample)

Everyone loves foundation! I mean, foundation is Everything! Who doesn’t love a good foundation that they can depend on, and use for years and years? Who doesn’t love quality foundation that meets their needs and matches their skin tones? I know, I do!

Today, I want to review Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup (Sample). I’ve never used the brand Clinique before, but I was excited to try this.

IMG_9318.jpg

First Impressions

I didn’t know what my shade was so I chose the shade golden because it looked close to my foundation shade that I would normally use. When I applied it to my skin it felt really thick.

IMG_9321

The Results

The foundation seemed to be medium coverage or light coverage because it didn’t cover up my spots when I applied it. And it also didn’t really blend well. Also, I think that the shade that I chose was a little too dark for my skin tone. It was a little dry too as well and it didn’t really cover up my pores.

The Verdict

I’m going to give this foundation a 3/5 stars. It didn’t blend well. Also the coverage was too light, it seemed like I would have to use a lot to cover my spots. And I NEED  to cover my spots, you know what I’m saying. It seemed like it was really matte though, which I give the brand thumbs up for. I mean, when you have oily skin matte foundations are key.  Also the price wasn’t too bad, on sephora.com it costs $35, which is way cheaper than most foundations that cost $42 and up.

These are just my thoughts though. Maybe you tried it and loved it, everyone’s skin is different and have different makeup needs.

Have you ever tried this foundation before? If so, what did you think of it? Comment below

Review : Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation

Foundation is the one thing that I can’t live without. Put me on an island with other cosmetics and I’ll always choose foundation. A girl’s gotta cover up her spots, you know what I’m saying?

Today, I want to review the Becca  Skin Love Weightless Blur  Foundation. This is a breathable, medium coverage liquid foundation with a buildable finish that enhances the natural beauty of your skin, this is what the package states.

fullsizeoutput_208d

First Impressions

I decided to use the shade Maple because it seemed similar to the shade that I used with my regular foundation by Fenty Beauty.

LDqsMbVZTyCJSnE3H+W51Q

1.So first thing, I really liked that it covered my spots. I didn’t have to use a lot of foundation to cover up. I really liked this, because with so many other foundations you have to use so much to cover everything.

2. It went on smoothly, I didn’t really have to blend it out too much.

IMG_8734

After an Hour

After an hour, I checked back on my skin. I noticed that the foundation didn’t move. There was no oil dripping off my skin or anything.

The Downside

After the hour, I noticed that the foundation started flaking. It didn’t really look natural or feel breathable. It felt heavy on my skin.

The Verdict

I’m going to give this foundation a 3.5/5 stars. I liked the coverage the best and I liked that it went on smoothly. But after the hour it looked patchy and just ugly. It retails for $53 on Sephora.com. Would I spend that much money on this foundation? No, I don’t think it’s worth the price and the bottle looks really small for the price.

Yes, so this was my review of this foundation. What did you think of this post? Do you use this foundation? What did you think of it?

Review : Leven Rose 100% Pure & Organic Rosehip Oil

Get clear skin! Use this oil! Use this soap and your face will look flawless! Heard this before? But no one ever tells you how hard or time consuming it is to get clear skin. You know?

The Internet is a great place! Recently, I watched this influencers Instagram story where she was shedding light on the products that she uses to get rid of acne and dark spots. In the video she mentioned that she uses Rosehip oil and that it’s the reason why her dark spots went away. I then decided to hop over to Amazon and saw this one Leven Rose 100% Pure & Organic Rosehip Oil. Now, let’s discuss…

IMG_7903

First Impressions

The first day I used this I was really impressed that it didn’t leave my skin oily. I can’t use most of these essential oils products but this was great. I didn’t even notice that it was on my skin.

IMG_7904.jpg

The Good

I liked that this product was organic. I always feel better when products are natural. It gives me more confidence to purchase it. It made my face look really clean

The Bad

I used this for 2 weeks and after the first week I started breaking out. I don’t know maybe my skin is too sensitive? I didn’t see any marked results after 2 weeks. My spots didn’t go away or fade. I still have 3/4 of the bottle left.

fullsizeoutput_1bd6

Conclusion

I don’t know if I should’ve used this longer but it didn’t work for me. Maybe I need a stronger formula? Maybe I should try a different brand? I don’t know. I’m going to give this 2.5 out of 5 stars. I feel like I wasted $20.

Different products work for different people. It clearly does work for some people but it just didn’t cut it for me.

What products do you use to get rid of dark spots? Let me know in the comments

Review : Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme

I don’t really like to stray too much outside of the products that I use for my face, but today I decided to try Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme. When I purchased my Nars concealer, I chose to get the Kat Von D concealer as a sample  just to see what it’s like. My friend always talks about how great  Kat Von D Products are, so I said, why not?

fullsizeoutput_17d2

I applied a little primer and foundation first. I chose the shade Medium 19 Cool because it looked more like my shade. Then I used my damp beauty blender to apply.

fullsizeoutput_17d4

I was pleasantly surprised. It went on smoothly and I didn’t have to apply too much product. It din’t look caked on, it was really rich. I thought it concealed really well.IMG_7014.jpeg

IMG_7015

It made my under eyes look bright, which I really like, when wearing concealer. Itreally felt really hydrating, even though the formula was thick. It went on really smooth.

fullsizeoutput_17d0

The only downside to this? A couple of hours later I started to see lines. Overall, I’d give this concealer a 4/5. I liked the formula and the shade but the only thing I’m worried about is that it will crease after a while.

On the Sephora’s website, the bottle looks like normal sized concealers. Would I buy this again? Maybe. I didn’t really think this concealer was more special or completely different than any other one, but it’s still good. You can shop it Here

I’m still sticking to my Nars Concealer though for now.

Note : These words and pictures are all mine

What concealers do you use? Have you ever tried this concealer before? Please leave a comment.

My Makeup Routine IN 10 Steps

fullsizeoutput_1717

Look, I wish I was the type of person to say things like, “I do my makeup differently everyday”, but I’m not. I’d like to be the person who says “I’m going to do this new bold look  with my eyes today”, but I’m not. Haha, will I ever be that type of person? Maybe, but typically I do my makeup the same way every time.. Maybe it’s laziness, maybe it’s comfort I don’t know, but it’s always the same. Yeah, I know, boring right?

Today, I’ll be sharing with you my Makeup Routine. Typically it takes me probably 45 minutes to do my makeup. Here’s the process.

  1. Primer – Before putting on my makeup I always apply primer. My face is always dry after I cleanse it, so using a primer makes all the difference. For this I like to use Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer. I like that this is super light and creamy and it doesn’t make my face oily. It’s also really affordable compared to Smashbox’s primer.fullsizeoutput_16e9
  2. Foundation – After apply primer I use, Fenty Beauty Pro’ Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. I like this makeup because it looks like my skin. I don’t feel like I’m trying too hard, it looks really natural. I shake the bottle twice then use 3-4 pumps depending on the day. My shade is 420. I always dampen my beauty blender before I apply my foundation, I find that it just goes on smoother and looks better.fullsizeoutput_1715
  3. Concealer– I like using Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. This is just so creamy and it just makes my face look really radiant. It’s the best.fullsizeoutput_e64fullsizeoutput_16eeThen I blend, blend, blend.
  4. Contour– After concealing. I contour. This is my favourite part of makeup. I like how it brings definition to my face. I use Fenty Beauty Matchstix Matte Skin stick in shade Truffle or Espresso. I use a brush to blend out my contourAfterlightImagefullsizeoutput_1705
  5. Setting Powder – I then apply setting powder. I love the RCMA No Color Powder. It’s easy to blend out and it makes my makeup stay on for a long time. I usually dampen my beauty blender to apply this. I usually leave it on for 5 mins while I do my eyebrows or apply mascara.fullsizeoutput_170dfullsizeoutput_1708
  6. Eyebrows – After setting powder I do my eyebrows. I use Rimmel London’s Brow Shake Filling Powder. I really like this because it makes my eyebrows really dark and bold. I don’t like it any other way. How to use? Shake, then apply but make sure the contents of the bottle don’t end up blotching your face.fullsizeoutput_16ed
  7. Eyeshadow – I do my eyeshadow next. Typically I use the same colours. Again, I’m really boring. These days I use the Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Spice Edition. I like using the burgundy colours the most because they make me stand out.AfterlightImagefullsizeoutput_1741
  8. Mascara– I use 2 different mascaras, one on my top lashes and the other on my bottom lashes. I use Essence on my top eyelashes and Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara on my bottom lashes. fullsizeoutput_16eaAfterlightImage
  9. Setting Spray– This the second to last step. After I brush off the powder and apply mascara I use Mac Prep+ Prime Fix +Matte Vaporizer. When I first started using makeup I had no clue what this was but now I’m in love with it. It just makes my makeup look so good and photo ready.fullsizeoutput_1709
  10. Lipgloss – I used to hate wearing lipgloss but now I can’t stop wearing it. It’s so simple and easy. I don’t have to worry about lipstick being on your teeth or all over my mouth. I use Rimmel London’s Oh My Gloss Lipgloss. fullsizeoutput_1702

And this is the finished look belowfullsizeoutput_1594

fullsizeoutput_155f

These are all products that I LOVE. I use them regularly and I would recommend them to anyone. I won’t recommend products that are not great because there would be no point.

Yeah, so this is my makeup routine. Will I try new makeup looks in the future? Absolutely, because change is good, but for now I’ll keep doing this routine.

All the products shown in this blog post can be found on Sephora.com website or on Amazon.ca.

What’s your makeup routine? What kind of makeup products do you use? Do you always use the same products or do you switch it up?

Brushes Vs Beauty Blenders

Do you use a Brush to apply your foundation or do you use a Beauty Blender? This is the question of the ages. I swear, every time I watch a Makeup Youtube tutorial, there’s always some people who hate using beauty blenders and vice versa. Or, if you watch those Vogue beauty videos, some people prefer to use their fingers (Yeah, I find that really weird). Which one do I prefer? Hmmm…….Keep reading to find out.

IMG_6346

When I first started getting into wearing makeup, I was all into the brushes. I would go to the Nyx Cosmetic store or my local drugstore to see what the best brushes were and so on. I lived by the code that “Brushes were the best for me”, and, no one could tell me otherwise. I had tried beauty blenders before, but I didn’t get why people were so into them. I didn’t really know how to use them either. I was like “What’s the use of this?”. So, I kept on using my brushes.

I didn’t immediately start watching Beauty Tutorials until one day my friend told me about the biggest Youtube Gurus and said ,”Ok, let me check this out”. I started watching the videos and saw the different techniques  they used to apply their makeup and saw how they used the beauty blender. I said to myself, “Oh ok, that’s how you’re supposed to use it Raceen”, haha. I then proceeded to order some from Amazon.

IMG_6344

After I received them in the mail, I tried to use them, but I still wasn’t satisfied, so I went back to using my brushes. Until the hair in my foundation brush started falling out. I was panicking, wondering “Omg what am I going to use now”. Then, I looked down and saw my beauty blenders and it was like a light bulb had switched on. I  then started to really learn how to use them because I really didn’t have a choice at that point. You know what I’m saying?  Now, I love them.

Below, I’ll show you my experience with the Beauty Blender Vs A Brush

IMG_6404
Applying my Fenty Beauty Foundation with my dampened beauty blender
IMG_6406
After – It looks really smooth and blended Out

The Brush……

IMG_6405
Applying the foundation with the brush
IMG_6407
After – As you can see, it looks patchy and not really blended

My conclusion? Beauty Blenders are Better! Yeah I said it! Haha.

But that’s just my personal preference.

Brushes don’t work for me anymore because it just makes my foundation look patchy and grainy.

Maybe there will be some new applicator  that’s invented  in 2030 that is even better than beauty blenders and brushes. Haha.

Using a  beauty blender makes my foundation looks so smooth. I really love it.

Here’s my entire makeup look

Which do you prefer? Do use a Beauty Blender or a Foundation Brush? What has your experience with a beauty blender or brush been like?

My Eyeshadow Collection

I’ve probably said this a gazillion times but I’ll say it again, “I don’t really wear eyeshadow”.  I don’t really know why. I wear foundation, lipstick basically everything else, but you will rarely, ever see me wear eyeshadow. Do I hate it? I don’t think so, I guess I’ve never really found the use for it, because I like my makeup really simple. I’m not trying to bring out my eyes OK? Haha. Recently though, I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone. Keep reading.

Quo Colour Wonderland Eye, Lip and Cheek Collection – My brother bought this for me for Christmas last year and I absolutely love it. There are so many colours to choose from! It’s insane. Why I like Wearing Makeup

Have I always been into makeup? No. I was more of a tomboy growing up.Did my mom teach me how to wear lipstick and foundation? No. My mom doesn’t even care about makeup. So how did I get to start like wearing makeup? Keep reading to find out.

I can’t really pinpoint the exact moment when I started to like makeup but it wasn’t at age 8 or 14. At those ages I was more interested in books, more than anything else. I was probably 25, when I bought my first Mac lipstick. My first foundation was Black Opal which I found in a store across the street.

I didn’t know what Sephora or Nyx was until about a year ago, when I started working across the road from the mall. I was in a professional environment so I didn’t want to look like I just woke up out of bed, so that’s when I started getting more into wearing makeup.

My coworkers would talk about different brands that they use and what works and what doesn’t work. It was all so new to me, but so intriguing so I started buying different foundations and really seeing what works  best.

So Why do I like wearing  makeup?

1.I think because I’m a creative person makeup gives me the chance to create. It’s like my face is the blank canvas and I can just paint whatever picture I want people to see. I love that. One day I can be sultry, the next day I can look simple. It’s awesome.

2. It makes me feel confident. Yes, I know we should all be confident without makeup, and I am, but it just makes me feel more confident. It makes me feel like I can just go up to anyone and talk to them without having to worry about how I look. I know you girls can relate.

3. It enhances my best features. I have high cheek bones and wearing makeup, specifically contouring my face, helps show my cheek bones and enhances them. If I want my eyes to pop, putting on mascara helps with that. Makeup is just the bomb.

4. I have dark spots on my face so foundation helps to cover that up. I’m just being real with ya’ll. My skin isn’t perfect but makeup helps it to look good

I love makeup and I’m probably not going to stop wearing it. I also really don’t care if people say I wear too much makeup because people’s opinions don’t really matter to me.

I also don’t wear makeup 90% of the time but when I do, I like to get all up  in it.

I’m also trying to get rid of my dark spots so you know? I’m working on myself.

And to guys who bash girls who wear makeup, “Leave them alone”. It’s not your face, so don’t judge. Some girls like to wear a lot, some don’t wear any at all. Love people for who they are.

If you don’t wear makeup I don’t judge. As I always say ,”Do you”.

Makeup is fun though, you should try it sometime. XOXO

The Beauty Products that I Own but don’t Use

ACS_0021-1

I often hear girls talking about the latest beauty products that they have, own, or they’re about to buy. I hear them saying, stuff like, “Omg, I have to get that new Tarte tape shape concealer”, or, “Omg I’m going to sephora to try that new Fenty Beauty highlighter because, girl, I gotta have it”. Can you relate? I certainly can. But, what about the beautyproducts that you don’t use? You know, the lipstick that your Aunt Geraldine bought you 2 years ago but it’s not even close to something that you would wear so it’s sitting on your dresser. Or, that ugly nude tarte lip paint that they give you when you ask for samples at Sephora, do you still keep that, or do you throw it away. Seems familiar?

Well, today I’m going to shine the light on some of the beauty products that I own, but don’t use.

  • Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray

acs_0023-1.jpeg

Look, I’ve tried to give this a chance. I really have. A friend of mine, told me it was good for oily skin, so I hurriedly went online to sephora.com to purchase it, but I was severely disappointed. I’ve tried putting on a little but I still end up draining oil, after 10 mins. I’ve tried putting it on before foundation but still the same results. I’m sorry all nighter setting spray but I wasted money on you. It’s still sitting on top of my dresser and I really don’t know what to do it. Maybe I’ll ask my friends to see if anyone of them want it

  • Tarte Tartiest Lip Paint ( Nude Color) ACS_0027

I received this, the first time I purchased makeup from Sephora for my birthday as a gift and that was like a year and a half ago and I still have it. You’re probably saying, “Oh but that’s so tiny, you should be done with that by now. But no honey, it’s not even my shade. I look horrid when I put it on. It’s still laying on my dresser. Anybody want a nude shade of lipstick? Call or text me.

  • NYX Wonder Stick Highlight and Contour Stick

ACS_0025-1

Look, I used to believe that these contour highlight sticks were the bomb. No one could tell me that they weren’t the bomb. If you can relate put your hands up! Then I discovered that they weren’t the bomb and it’s like my life shattered into pieces. Haha, I’m kidding, it’s not that serious. But every time I wear this it feels like i just poured a bottle of oil on my face. It doesn’t feel creamy to me at all. It just feels like oil and until I started used the fenty beauty contour, I didn’t realize. I really don’t know what to do with them, so I’m probably going to use them for one of my blog posts and then throw them out when they’re done.

  • Benefit Cosmetics 3D Brow Tones

ACS_0024-1.jpeg

I literally have no idea what this is for. I asked for samples at sephora and they gave this to me. The girl said, “We have this, it’s not your shade but you can use it”. Haha, I tried using it but I honestly didn’t know what to do. Do I put it on my eyebrow? Or under my eyebrow? In my eyebrow? See? I’m confused.

I need to find some ways to get rid of these things. Or, maybe I’ll sell them. I don’t know. I’m not going to keep them piling up on my dresser. I could be using that space for the new products I like, you know what i’m saying?.

I don’t want to become a hoarder. My philosophy is always this “Throw out things that you don’t need, or give them away”.

Do you have the same problem as I do? If so, what do you do with unwanted makeup? If you can relate comment below. Let me know what you think

Review : Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick

Imagine for a second that lipsticks were never invented. There would be chaos. Girls would be walking around with their lips dry, there would be no color to brighten up your face. Horrid, right? Let’s not imagine that.

Lipsticks are probably my favourite part of makeup. If I don’t have on lipstick I feel really weird. I have really dark lips so wearing  lipstick makes me feel more confident.

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick.

fullsizeoutput_fde

I bought this lipstick sometime last year, and I must say, I really love it. The color that I purchased was Griselda. I chose this colour because I don’t like bright lipstick. I like when my lipstick looks dark. It’s a kind of dark berry color and it looks great with my red hair.

fullsizeoutput_fdd

On sephora.com the lipstick is  described as “An ultra-slim lipstick with a long- wearing, petal- soft matte finish, created in a rainbow of weightless, color-intense shades designed to flatter all skin tones. The size is 0.06 oz/1.7 g. The cost is $23 Canadian dollars.

fullsizeoutput_fdf

I like the fact that there is a lot of product on the stick. It’s  not like Mac lipsticks where, there is barely anything on the stick. It’s matte, but it doesn’t go on matte like mac lipsticks (Sorry for the constant comparisons mac). It’s very creamy when you apply it then it becomes matte. Genius, right?

fullsizeoutput_fdc

When it dries it’s matte but it’s not dried out matte like Mac matte lipsticks. EVERY TIME I wear mac lipsticks I always have to apply lip gloss over it because it’s so dry!. With this, when its dries it’s not that dry. It’s creamy, you know what I’m saying?

It’s really smooth and it doesn’t clump. I really love the dark colour and they have a wide range of colours. So if you want to go ratchet, there’s a colour for you or, if you want to be girly there’s a color there for you as well

fullsizeoutput_fe2

I also like the shape of the lipstick. The way it’s shaped makes it easier to apply the lipstick to the corners of your lips. I feel like the shape also helps me to keep the lipstick within the correct lines.

Below, are some pictures of me wearing it.

Processed with VSCO with l8 presetProcessed with VSCO with c1 presetProcessed with VSCO with l7 preset

IMG_4961

I’ll give this lipstick a 5/5 stars. It’s not as matte as Fenty Beauty’s Stunna lip paint but I REALLY love the formula and I don’t really love super matte lipsticks anyway. I’ll definitely go back to sephora, to try out some new colours as well. Oh Rihanna please  don’t take all my coins.

You can purchase it Here

What kinds of lipsticks do you use? What brands are your favourites?

Comment below babes.
