The Best Types of Boots to Wear for Fall

The weather in Canada is always fluctuating. Just one day last week, it was 15 degrees, then the next day, it was hailing. Can you believe it?  Fall is so confusing. To wear layers or not to wear layers? To wear a heavy jacket or to wear a light jacket? Boots or sneakers?

Today, I want to discuss the best types of Boots to wear for Fall. I don’t wear sneakers during fall because I find that my feet get really cold. Does that happen to you? Or is it just me? Yes, so I only wear boots, to church, to work, to hang out with my friends. So lets’s discuss..

1 Combat boots- These are are my favourite types of boots to wear for fall. They are very functional and good for a busy lifestyle. You know, when you have to drop your kid off at school, or do a grocery run. The best thing thing about them, is that, they are so comfortable. The ones that I’m wearing in the picture below are velvet with coloured laces which give a punk rock vibe. And I love looking like a punk rock girl. The boots are from Forever 21, you can shop them Here

2 Ankle Boots – I wear these everywhere. Sometimes I don’t even care if they go with my outfit. I just love them. These are leather patented boots and they are great for fall. They are not too high and can be worn in the office or out on the town. These boots add a layer of sophistication to your outfit. They look like balenciaga sock boots right? These are from Justfab.com. They are probably 2 years old.

3 Tall Heeled Boots –  I bought these boots 2 years ago. The heels are very skinny but I needed something that could keep the cold away from my legs so I thought these would be the perfect fit. And they are! I mostly wear these to church and they keep my upper legs so warm! These are from Shoedazzle.com

Boots are the best option for me for fall. I don’t know how I’d survive if I didn’t own them! The weather in Canada is brutal man! I wouldn’t encourage anyone to live here. Ha, I’m kidding. Canada is great!

What types of boots do you like to wear? Comment below.

Story Time : We Don’t Talk Anymore

Hi, guys it’s been a while since I have updated the Advice and Stories part of my blog. I missed you all so much! Welcome back!

Today’s blog post is titled, “We Don’t Talk Anymore”.

There’s this new show called “A Million Little Things”, have you seen it? It’s so good! The premise of the show is that ‘there are a group of friends who are intertwined in each other’s lives, realize that they need to start living until one of them suddenly  dies by suicide”.

During one of the episodes, (Sorry, spoiler alert) after their friend dies, the group of guys go to a football game and the guy named Gary says this,

“I spent almost 950 hours sitting next to John and I had no idea that he was depressed. Did you? Did you?NO! You want to know why? Because we don’t talk. The last time we said anything deep was when we were in that elevator. We were more honest with each other before we were friends. Now we do this. We sit shoulder to shoulder like guys, what we’re doing right now and the truth, the very sad truth is that we don’t really know each other”.

This really hit home for me, “We don’t talk”. I mean how many of us really talk to our friends?  I mean, really really talk to our friends? You know, when you’re in a really depressing state, or you tell them some deep dark secret?. And I am guilty of this too, because I don’t really talk to a lot of my friends. I have 100 contacts in my phone and I rarely ever take up the phone and say, “This is what’s going on”. Sometimes I’ll wait till when the anxiety takes over, and that’s when I’ll start talking.

And I’m not saying that you have to tell your friends every single detail that happens in your life, because that’s just impossible. If we talked more don’t you think less people would be depressed and suicidal because they would have people to talk to? And yes, I know that even with people to talk to, some people still take their lives. And yes, I know it’s not your job to be you friends therapist. I know, but it’s more healing to talk about things than to hold them in.

I have my moments too, where everyone thinks I’m so happy but underneath it all I’m so sad. Because I don’t want to burden my friends with my problems. And sometimes I really don’t want to talk about it. And there’s the reverse too where my mind is so much on my problems that I don’t even notice my friends sadness. Which is really bad.

But sometimes, get off social media! Get off Instagram and Facebook and pick up the phone and call your friend. Ask them how they’re doing! Sometimes send them a text. Hang out with your friends and forget your phones! Get to know them again! You never know what someone is going through.

I know, you can’t be there for all  of your friends, because who really can? But make the effort! And yes I know that not every friend can handle depressing stories, but find the ones who can.

After all, if you don’t talk to your friend, who can you really talk to? Who do you have to talk to?

What did you think of this post? Are you someone who picks up the phone and calls your friend or do you like to keep things to yourself?

Review: Clinique Stay Matte Oil – Free Makeup (Sample)

Everyone loves foundation! I mean, foundation is Everything! Who doesn’t love a good foundation that they can depend on, and use for years and years? Who doesn’t love quality foundation that meets their needs and matches their skin tones? I know, I do!

Today, I want to review Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup (Sample). I’ve never used the brand Clinique before, but I was excited to try this.

IMG_9318.jpg

First Impressions

I didn’t know what my shade was so I chose the shade golden because it looked close to my foundation shade that I would normally use. When I applied it to my skin it felt really thick.

IMG_9321

The Results

The foundation seemed to be medium coverage or light coverage because it didn’t cover up my spots when I applied it. And it also didn’t really blend well. Also, I think that the shade that I chose was a little too dark for my skin tone. It was a little dry too as well and it didn’t really cover up my pores.

The Verdict

I’m going to give this foundation a 3/5 stars. It didn’t blend well. Also the coverage was too light, it seemed like I would have to use a lot to cover my spots. And I NEED  to cover my spots, you know what I’m saying. It seemed like it was really matte though, which I give the brand thumbs up for. I mean, when you have oily skin matte foundations are key.  Also the price wasn’t too bad, on sephora.com it costs $35, which is way cheaper than most foundations that cost $42 and up.

These are just my thoughts though. Maybe you tried it and loved it, everyone’s skin is different and have different makeup needs.

Have you ever tried this foundation before? If so, what did you think of it? Comment below

How to Wear Layers for Fall

Fall is upon us and it’s really cold outside. I don’t know where you live, but in Canada it feels like winter already. With the dropped temperatures it’s time for scarves, sweaters and boots. It’s time to layer up!  The only thing with layers is that, sometimes you get too hot, but I’d rather be hot than cold. You know what I’m saying?Today, I want to show you some really fashionable ways to wear layers.

IMG_9252.jpg

For this look, I wore a nude coat over my outfit as a cape. It really made the outfit pop.  and incorporated colour into my all black ensemble. It made my outfit look really high fashion. A black coat would have made the outfit boring.

IMG_9254

Under the coat, I wore a black blazer, this really provided a lot of warmth as I was only wearing a tank top underneath. The blazer was double breasted and it looked really smart on me.

IMG_9262

I also wore a really thick grey scarf to keep out the cold from my neck. This I bought from H&M a year ago.

IMG_9259

There are so many ways that you can layer up for fall. You can wear cardigans under your jacket, scarves, sweatshirts with an added shirt underneath, so many ways!

Are you layering up? Or are you someone who likes the cold and doesn’t care about being warm? Comment below.

Fall Fashion Trends You Won’t See Me Wearing

I’m a trend whore!  Yes I am. As soon as a new trend comes out, I’m on it like hot chocolate and milk. Like bread and butter. Get it? But ,there are certainly some trends that you won’t see me wearing! Unfortunately, not everything looks good on me OK?

AfterlightImage

This Fall season is about taking being noticed and fierce animal attraction. All across the runway I see Neons, Animal prints, snakeskin styles…. so much to choose from! Here’s a list of the trends that you most likely will never see me in

1. Neon –  This one is just not for me. The only bright colours that I like are red and yellow. I just can’t see myself in Neon green and neon pink. I hate attention and this would be too much. Imagine me in neon orange. Yeah, I can’t imagine that either.

2.Animal print – Animal print is all over. I mean, every time I sign into instagram I see some influencer in animal print. It looks great on them but I can’t see myself in head to toe animal print. In fact, I don’t really like prints in general. Maybe I’d consider wearing an animal print bag or even a scarf. Little things you know?

Animal Prints

3.Clueless Plaid – This trend looks really cool but too many bright colours for me. It’s just not my taste. I prefer normal plaids like red or green.

AfterlightImage

These are the trends that you will never see me in. I mean maybe one day I’ll change my mind but for now I don’t see myself in these things.

Never say Never they say.

Disclaimer : All these are my words and I’m just being honest. Some photos were taken from google and are labelled as such.

What did you think of this post? Have you tired any of these trends?

Review : Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation

Foundation is the one thing that I can’t live without. Put me on an island with other cosmetics and I’ll always choose foundation. A girl’s gotta cover up her spots, you know what I’m saying?

Today, I want to review the Becca  Skin Love Weightless Blur  Foundation. This is a breathable, medium coverage liquid foundation with a buildable finish that enhances the natural beauty of your skin, this is what the package states.

fullsizeoutput_208d

First Impressions

I decided to use the shade Maple because it seemed similar to the shade that I used with my regular foundation by Fenty Beauty.

LDqsMbVZTyCJSnE3H+W51Q

1.So first thing, I really liked that it covered my spots. I didn’t have to use a lot of foundation to cover up. I really liked this, because with so many other foundations you have to use so much to cover everything.

2. It went on smoothly, I didn’t really have to blend it out too much.

IMG_8734

After an Hour

After an hour, I checked back on my skin. I noticed that the foundation didn’t move. There was no oil dripping off my skin or anything.

The Downside

After the hour, I noticed that the foundation started flaking. It didn’t really look natural or feel breathable. It felt heavy on my skin.

The Verdict

I’m going to give this foundation a 3.5/5 stars. I liked the coverage the best and I liked that it went on smoothly. But after the hour it looked patchy and just ugly. It retails for $53 on Sephora.com. Would I spend that much money on this foundation? No, I don’t think it’s worth the price and the bottle looks really small for the price.

Yes, so this was my review of this foundation. What did you think of this post? Do you use this foundation? What did you think of it?

How Blogging Has Helped Me With my Wardrobe

Blogging is one of my favourite  creative outlets. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog but I didn’t know where to start but I did my research and here I am today. It’s been a fun ride of strategizing and figuring things out and I’m still learning everyday but I’m happy that I started.

Today, I’ll be sharing the ways blogging has helped me with my wardrobe in the last 6 months.

AfterlightImage

These are the ways that blogging has helped me with my wardrobe in the last 6 months

1 I’ve learned to utilize the clothes in my closet – Look, if I was rich I’d buy clothes all the time, but I’m not rich OK? Blogging has helped me really search and make use of the clothes in my closet. Now I feel like I’m a stylist or something because I’m so good at putting together outfits now. I just use the clothes in my closet and make them fashionable! And I save that way.

AfterlightImage

2 I think I became more stylish – I was always into fashion, but now I feel like my outfits are more elevated. Now, I feel like they are more put together and thought out. It makes me feel like I’m just coming off the runway.AfterlightImage

3 I’m more organized now – I’m the least organized person, but blogging has gotten me colour coordinating my closet and all that. I have to stay organized so that I can find my outfits. All my jeans are in one place now, where I can find them. My life is easy now.

AfterlightImage

4 It’s helped me figure out what fits and what has to go – On a weekly basis I take maybe 50 photos to post throughout the week. Blogging has helped me figure out what clothes look good on me and what has to go. I mean, the pictures show everything and I mean Everything. So now my closet isn’t piled up with clothes that don’t look good or don’t fit me anymore. Thanks blogging.

Yes, so these are all the ways that blogging has helped me improve my wardrobe. Going into this I didn’t think that I would learn so much in 6 months,  but I’m happy for the lessons. Blogging is hard work, but I enjoy it.

My dress is from Zara, you can shop it Here

Using Elf Cosmetics Eyeshadow to Create A Dramatic Look

“Does this eyeshadow look good on me?”, I ask my mom. “Yes, it looks great”,she exclaims. I have to do a double take because I’m wondering if I’m talking to my mom or someone totally different. I mean, my mom always complains that I wear too much makeup.

Today, I want to show you all, how I created this dramatic look using Elf Cosmetics Eyeshadow Collection. Look, I’m not the type to wear dramatic looks like this, I always keep it simple or I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. Today was different though, I wanted to try something new.fullsizeoutput_1e9c

So this is the palette that I used. I bought it in my local Shoppers Drugmart here in Canada. It cost me about $20. I bought it 2 years ago.

I used dark green and silver for my inner crease.

Silver Colour

fullsizeoutput_1e9a.jpeg

Yes, so this is the finished look. I liked that the green complemented the silver so well. Would I ever wear this look out? I don’t think so, it’s too much. Maybe I’d wear it to a Halloween Party or something if I ever went to one. But I must say, for someone who isn’t a pro at doing eyeshadow, I did a great job! I’m surprised y’all! Shoutout to Youtube!

What did you think of this post? Do you often sport dramatic eyemakeup looks or do you like more simpler makeup? Comment below.

One Blouse, 3 Ways

IMG_8308

“I have nothing to wear”. Have you ever uttered those words before? I know, I have. Sometimes it’s just hard to find clothes ok? I wish I was one of those rich,  celebrities who have an infinite number of clothes you know? Life would be so much easier! But, I’m not rich, so I have to make do with what I have. You can always make a brand new outfit out of the clothes, that you do own. Make it work girl. Today I’ll be showing you how I styled One Blouse in 3 ways.

So I bought this top about a year ago and this is how I styled it in 3 ways.

Blouse with Jeans

I styled the top with jeans from forever 21. These are some of my favourite jeans because it’s embroidered with pizza on it. It’s just different and I like different. This style can be worn on a night out with friends or a party. I purchased these jeans about 3 years ago, so they are sold out, but you can purchase similar ones Here. The blouse is from Zara but it’s a year old but you can find similar ones Here

fullsizeoutput_1dc4

fullsizeoutput_1da4

fullsizeoutput_1db8

Blouse with A Skirt

This look can be worn to church. The plaid skirt is from H&M. I really like this look because it’s very sophisticated. The green blouse  makes the outfit pop. The skirt is old but you can find similar styles Here

fullsizeoutput_1d9b

fullsizeoutput_1dc2

Blouse with Trousers

This look can be worn to the office. The pants are pinstriped and are from this local store called Suzy shier in my community. You change shoes and put on stilettos or flats.

fullsizeoutput_1e07

fullsizeoutput_1e06

fullsizeoutput_1e08

Yes, so this is how I styled this blouse in 3 different ways. You don’t have to be rich or have plenty of clothes to look fashionable. You can work with what you have. Instead of spending money all the time to buy new clothes, just style the ones you have differently. It’s easy!

Story Time : Dating in 2018

Who watches Bachelor in Paradise? Did you see the finale? Yes, I know that it’s a reality tv show but I couldn’t help but say to myself “Wow I can relate”. Dating these days isn’t what it used to be, it makes me feel disgusted to be honest. Dating in 2018 is like stabbing yourself repeatedly with a butter knife…. Harsh but true… Keep reading to find out why

AfterlightImage

So lets dissect these guys in this age

1.These guys just want to hook up – Guys these days don’t even want to get to know you, they just want to get in your pants. About 2 months ago, I went on a first date with this guy, and all he kept talking about was sex, sex, sex. I was so disgusted and turned off. I just deleted his number afterwards.

2. They tell you you’re great and you’re the best thing, but they still don’t want you – I remember watching Kevin from Bachelor in Paradise telling Astrid that she was the best but he still broke up with her. Then she said “I’m so tired of guys saying that they like me so much and I’m the best but they always end up breaking up with me”. I was like “Yass I can relate”.I mean  just shut up and don’t say anything. I’d rather not hear that bs, thank you. Guys say this to me so much.

3. They don’t make any effort –  Don’t ask me out if you’re not going to make the effort. Just forget the thought. If you’re not going to take me out on dates, pick me up, show some effort then don’t bother. If you feel lazy, then don’t bother asking me out. What’s the point? I want someone who shows me that he likes me.  This guy told me recently that he felt too lazy to pick me up for a date, so I said to him don’t bother. I mean why?

4. Guys in 2018 are players – I mean guys in every age are players but in 2018 it seems more rampant. A couple of months ago I invited this guy I was seeing to Afro fest Mind you, he claimed to be really into me, so I decided to give him a chance. He said he would be there by 5pm but I waited till 6 to ask him where he was. Then he said he was 20 mins away. I waited until 9 pm  and he still didn’t show up. Then I left the fest. When I came home, he didn’t provide and explanation or anything.  And then the next day I told him I didn’t want to see him anymore. Then he called me and claimed that he lost his wallet and “Oh I thought you were enjoying the fest, I didn’t think you would want to see me”. My conclusion was that he was there hooking up with other girls.

5. Guys in 2018 are Assholes – Do you guys remember when Kamil broke up with Annaliese for Bachelor In Paradise over national TV. What kind of asshole move was that? One guy called me a bitch after he was trying to lecture me about stupidness and I told him not to yell at me. It’s like could you wait to show your bad side? I just met you.

Disclaimer – I’m not saying ALL guys are like this, but  some of the ones that I’ve gone out with are like this.

Yes, so this is Dating in 2018, for me. Maybe it’s great for you guys but for me it hasn’t been. But I’m happy for these experiences. They’ve taught me so much about myself and what I want.

And yes, I know some people might be saying, “Oh you’re so picky”, but you know what? I don’t care. You SHOULD be picky, not everyone should get to know you. Never settle for anything less than you deserve.

YOU DESERVE THE BEST!Remember that!

Ad if someone isn’t treating you right Kick them to the Curb. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Because in the end you’re only going to hurt yourself

And yes, I know I sound entitled as hell but I don’t care. YOU SHOW PEOPLE HOW TO TREAT YOU. People will only treat you bad if you allow them.

And don’t let anyone make you feel bad for wanting the best.

Also, sometimes you see red flags and sometimes you don’t, but again these are all lessons. Lessons that will help you grow and figure out the kind of person that You Do Want.

Conclusion – Dating in 2018 sucks. Maybe I should build myself a time machine and go back to the 90’s when guys used to be gentlemen and open doors for Women. Do guys like that even exist in today’s age? I can only hope, for my sake, LOL. I’m not worried though, I have all the time in the world, there’s no rush.

Did you enjoy this post? Comment below. Let me know what you think.

I know I’ve kinda been slacking on this part of my blog but with Work, youtube, creating looks for my fashion blog etc, it has been a lot. And I’ve also been really depressed for the past 2 weeks but I’m feeling a lot better now. I just want to be honest with you all.

XOXO
